Show Cavemen Trounces Timps In Third Championship Game . -ws Pitching, Tight Fielding and ttfni oy Locals Wins 9-2 Vic-wry- The Cavemen won a decisive vie-over vie-over Provo here Wednesday in T third game of the championship 'res the final outcome being 9 to 2. Polling held the hard hitting Timps to scattered clouts while his team aies fielded almost errorless ball. Every one of the local crew were hit-: ing requiring Manager Birk to send left'y Cole to the bench in the sixth. The Cavemen started scoring in second, pushing over two runs and from then on they were never in danger. In ltne fourth they scored two more and in the sixth pushed over five. Provo rallied in the seventh I and scored one and in the ninth nushed over another. Polling pitched a masterful game or the whole nine innings, pulling out of several bad situations with last, 'double and single plays by his team mates. There were three double i plays by American Fork and one by Provo. Lefty Cole was unable to hold the Cavemen sluggers and was jerked in the sixth. Gay succeeded him but hitting went on but they were not bunched so effectively as previously. Binch at second had a wonderful day of fielding taking fourteen chances with but one error. Every other man on the local team was fielding in fine shape and all were Ticked with the bat. Ingersoll was the star sticker getting two singles and a triple in five times up. j Pwo TTins Game There The second game of the series was easily won by Provo in their lot on Saturday. The final score was 12 to 4. The Provo club was fielding and hitting in perfect style and "Hap" was required to use M'iller, Polling and Mott in the box in an effort to hold the pill in the lot. Poor fielding by the Cavemen also aided the Timps in their run getting. The series now stands 2 to 1 in favor of the Timps with a game called call-ed yesterday afternoon at Provo and the final game here this afternoon at 3 p. m. if our team won yesterday. |
