Show Ten Years Ago Now (Taken from files of March 22, 1924) Ten Years Ago Now The news of the death of Orville A. Thrasher, familiarly known as "Jack" prominent chicken man of this city, which occurred Sunday morning came as a great shock to his relatives and many friends here. Mr. Thrasher died as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident which occurred Thursday morning of last week near Salina. Funeral services were held Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon in the Third ward chapel with Counselor John Hunter in charge. Ten Years Ago Now When Manager F. M. White of the Realart Theatre opened the theatre Monday morning he discovered a burglary had been committed during dur-ing the night. The desk in the office was "jimmied" and about sixty dollars dol-lars was stolen. Ten Years Ago Now Honoring the sixtieth birthday of President S. L. Chipman the B. Y. U. Band Tuesday morning came Witt their director, Robert Sauer, from Provo and at 11:45 a. m. serenaded Mr. Chipman in the Chipman Merc, store. Ten Years Ago Now Miss Irene Birk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Birk, of this city was married Thursday to Mr. Angus Christensen of Spanish Fork. Ten Years Ago Now The marriage of Miss Fern Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Miller of Highland, to James Lisle Kirk of Lindon took place Wednesday Wednes-day in the Salt Lake temple. Ten Years Ago Now Announcement is made of the engagement en-gagement of Miss Ethel Parker to P. Rulon Nicholes of this city, the marriage mar-riage to take place April 2nd id the Salt Lake temple. Ten Years Ago Now Next Monday night in the tabernacle taber-nacle a combined home coming and farewell will be held for the Clarke 'brothers, Willard and Peter J., sons of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Clarke. I Willard has recently returned from j a mission to New Zealand and Peter leaves soon on a mission to Great Britain. Ten Years Ago Now The annual Junior Prom, the big social event of the high school, was held in the gymnasium last night with a capacity crowd in attendance. Untiring fingers coupled with clever ideas had transformed the hall into a fairyland of sping. Ten Years Ago Now At a meeting called to determine what was to be done with the money refunded to American Fork from the donation made to the Willard-Farm-ington Relief fund, it was decided that the $150.00 was to be used toward to-ward the re-establishment of the American Fork Silver Band. |
