Show o Final M. I. A. Union Meeting Meet-ing Held The concluding union meeting of the Mutual Improvement Association for the season was held Monday night in the stake tabernacle. Counselor Coun-selor A. B. Allen of the Y. M. M. I. A. stake presidency was in charge. The preliminary program was furnished fur-nished by the Third ward and consisted con-sisted of a vocal' trio, by Misses Eda and Bonna Ashby and Ruth Gid-dings; Gid-dings; a vocal solo by Miss- Vivian Lee; a speech by Russell Thompson an M Man, and a speech by Miss Avis Hicks, a Gleaner Girl. Jesse M. Walker of the stake presidency made a brief talk in which he said the M. I. A. is charged with a heavy responsibility re-sponsibility in taking care of the church recreation program. The United States, outside of Utah he said, is looking for Utah and the L. D. S. Church to help give a solution to the problem of recreation. With shorter working hours not far away the problem of leisure time must be considered. O. C. Mercer offered the opening prayer. Departmental sessions followed the general assembly, following which a social was held in the amusement hall to which the M. I. A. workers and partners and the Geneological workers who had been in union meeting session also, and their partners part-ners were invited. o |
