Show Local Musicians Make Oustanding Showing At Meet Musicians from American Fork high school made an outstanding showing at the annual music festival festi-val of region three, at Springville Friday and Saturday. Participating in the festival were the band, composed of 68 members; the male glee, of 40 members; the orchestra, of 35 members; the ladies' i glee, of 65 members, and vocalists : and instrumental soloists. The group . was under the direction of Kenneth J. Bird. Tire band was considered eligible to go to the national band festival, which will be held in Pocatello, Idaho, in the near future. A special program Friday night in the Springville high school auditorium auditor-ium featured the best numbers from each participating high school. The male quartet represented American Fork high school. According to a new policy, ratings and grading were not given. At the conclusion of each performance, whether by groups or individuals, constructive criticism in the form of comments by the official judge were made on each entry blank. Mr. Bird Tuesday expressed pleasure pleas-ure at the showing made by the local musicians. He .declared this year's group is one of the finest the high school has had in recent years, and is deserving of credit for the fine work at Springville. |
