Show Funeral Services For John Nelson The many beautiful floral offerings offer-ings and the many neighbors in attendance at-tendance at the funeral services of John Nelson, told of the respect and sympathy for the family and of the deceased. Funeral services were held Thursday, Thurs-day, August 5th, in the stake tabernacle taber-nacle with Bishop Junius A. West of the First w'ard in charge and conducting. con-ducting. Mrs. Viola Beers was at the organ and neighbors acted as pallbearers as follows: Orin Smith, Clifton Harper, Bert Gardiner, Herbert Her-bert Armitstead, LeGrande White and James Tomlinson. Lady neighbors neigh-bors took charge of the flowers. The opening number was a duet, "Oh My Father", by Stella Hard-man Hard-man and Viola Beers, accompanied by Jennie Halliday. Prayer was offered by H. V. Swenson, after which Jennie Halliday sang the solo "Face to Face", Viola Beers accompanist. accom-panist. The speakers were Jeremy Leavitt of Provo, Thomas Fenton, Lewis Olpin and President M. S. Christiansen. Chris-tiansen. All spoke of his cheerful, patient, preserving nature, of his wisdom and scripture studies, and his inspiration and help to them, even in his suffering. He had been afflicted for 36 years, from the time he was 13 years of age. They also told of the patient untiring care that had been so lovingly given by his aged father. Interspersing the speakers, Mrs. Hardman sang " Till The Heavens Roll Away," a song composed by John. The closing number was a duet by Mrs. Hardman and daughter, daugh-ter, "Jesus Lover of My Soul". Closing Clos-ing prayer was given by Joseph H. Adams and the dedicatory prayer at the City cemetery by Gotlieb Buhler. o |
