Show I Mr. and Mrs. David S. Taylor had ! as their guests for Thanksgiving din-, din-, ner, Mr. and Mrs. William Miller, Misses Rouie and Bemice Miller, Leon and Ralph Miller of this city; Miss Rinda Anderson of Lehi, and Miss Joy Black of Fillmore. Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Schettler of Salt Lake City have moved to Amer-1 Amer-1 ican Fork to make their home. Mr. Schettler purchased the H. M. Steele residence on Main street and he and his wife are now comfortably located in their new home. The Merry Makers club met last Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Rose Varney. Eight members and two special guests, Mrs. Sabina Allen and Miss Cady Dunkley were present. Games were enjoyed during dur-ing the afternoon, Mrs. Maud Wilde winning the prize. A delicious lunch was served. Mrs. Myrl S. Stewart and class of Guides of the Second ward Primary went out Wednesday afternoon with Thanksgiving baskets and visited four homes of the ward in which aged reside. The young people gave a short program at each place and left a true holiday spirit of cheer and remembrance. The Second ward Primary kiddies had a good time Tuesday afternoon at their regular meeting, it being "penny day". The officers had provided pro-vided pop corn balls, fish pond, etc. and the kiddies derived a great deal of pleasure in spending their pennies. pen-nies. The members of the Feality Club enjoyed a delightful afternoon The five year old son of Juliu; Christensen met with a slight accident acci-dent the first of the week. The little chap got his finger in a corn grindei with a result that the digit was mashed. Friends of James H. Pulley wii regret to leam that he is seriouslj ill at his home, sufferng from pneumonia. pneu-monia. It is hoped that he will soor. be pronounced out of danger and or the road to recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Delos Dickerson and family arrived Tuesday from Fruit-land Fruit-land and are spending the Thanksgiving Thanks-giving holidays here as guests of Mr and Mrs. Willis Fredericks and othei relatives. Am. Fork Locals Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Thayne and family have moved to Manila to reside. re-side. Thornton Birk returned the first of the week from a two months stay in California. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Jeffs are the parents of a new son, born November Novem-ber 19th. Mother and babe are doing do-ing well. I Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Duffin of Salt Lake were guests last week-end here of Mrs. Duffin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Yancey. Mrs. E. B. Hawkins has gone to Burley, Idaho, to spend the winter months with her daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Stewart received re-ceived word Friday from Bingham of the birth of a granddaughter. The happy parents are Mr. and Mrs. Reed Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Allen and family spent Thanksgiving and remained re-mained for the week-end with Mrs. Allen's mother, Mrs. Louis Garrett of Nephi. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Elton and three children of Dividend, spent last week-end here with Mrs. Elton's father and sister, Niels Nelson and Miss Sadie Nelson. Mrs. V. P. Houston is entertaining the members of the Lawata Club this afternoon (Friday) at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walters are the proud parents of a son, born last Saturday. All concerned, are doing nicely. Thursday night of last week Mrs. I David S. Taylor entertained her contract, bridge club. There were two tables and the prize was won by Mrs. Cris Scott. A tasty lunch was served. Clyde Thornton received a severe gash on the left forearm Monday night at his home. He was raising a window with a broken pane when the Thursday at the home of Mrs. Wilson Wil-son Cunningham. The party was in the form of a "Pot Luck". The afternoon after-noon was spent in playing bridge, the first and second prizes being won by Mrs. Norman Wing and Mrs. Walter Steffen. The ladies then all. joined together in preparing a tasty lunch served at one large table. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Meredith and daughter Carma, motored to Brig-ham Brig-ham City early Thanksgiving morning morn-ing and enjoyed their holiday dinner din-ner with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Knud-sen Knud-sen and family. Mr. Meredith also enjoyed a trip with friends to the bird sanctuary near Brigham City. Mrs. Meredith and daughter are remaining re-maining for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Al Beckstead and daughter; Mr. and Mi's. Earl Parks of Riverton, spent last week-end here with the parents of Mrs. Beckstead and Mrs. Parks, Mr. and Willis Fredericks. Fred-ericks. The sixth birthday of little Miss Carolyn Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Garn Carter, was the occasion oc-casion last Friday afternoon for a birthday party. Games were enjoyed enjoy-ed by all following which a dainty lunch was served. Mrs. Josiah Smith and daughter Betty Jo, Mrs. Jane Smith and granddaughter, Dorothy Smith, of Provo were among the guests. There were twenty-two pre-j pre-j sent. glass became loosened and a piece fell down upon his arm. A physician was called and the wound given immediate im-mediate attention. Miss Elaine Mecham celebrated her seventh birthday Saturday after -noon. Sixteen little friends were present at her party and all enjoyed the entertainment provided by playing play-ing games followed by the serving of refreshments. Miss Betty Houston entertained . Monday night, the occasion being her birthday. There were sixteen present. The time was spent in playing play-ing "Spoof", Misses Nina Sykes and Shirley Stewart winning the prizes. A dainty lunch was served. The Thanksgiving dance given by the Fourth ward M. I. A. Tuesday night in the Pulley's Feed Mill was very successful. There was a good , attendance and everyone seemed to have a good time. The harvest deco- rations added to the enjoyment of the affair. Mrs.. James Shelley, who with Mrs. John Singleton of Gandy, Utah, and her sister, Mrs. J. M. Lindsay of Salt Lake, left on a trip to Arizona, returned re-turned Friday last after a two weeks' absence from the city. They Miss Fern Greenwood entertained last Saturday night the occasion being be-ing her birthday. The guests first enjoyed dancing at the Apollo after s which they were guests for supper at the Greenwood home. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Adams, Miss Gwen McGrew, Ordell Kelly Melissa Greenwood, Glen Robinson and Verl Nicholes of this city; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nelson, Pleasant Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Hoag Firmage and Miss Louise Firmage of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Condon Con-don of Provo; Dell Crump of River-ton. River-ton. The Junior Literary League met Monday night at the home of Mrs. Elden Chipman, with Mrs. Lillian C. Booth in charge of the program. The lives and works of American poetesses poetess-es were considered, special stress being be-ing laid on Edna St. Vincent Millay, Sara Teasdale and Emily Dickinson. Mrs. Booth took up the life and works of Miss Mallay, Mrs. E. A. Pearson that of Miss Dickinson and Mrs. Wilson Cunningham, that of Miss Teasdale. A number of their poems were read and discussed. A vacancy occured in the membership of twenty four of the club and Mrs. Spence Taylor was accepted as the new member. There were nineteen present at the meeting. visited the Grand Canyon and other points of scenic interest enroute to Arizona. The Guides, comprised of nine boys of the First ward Primary association, asso-ciation, met Monday and prepared nineteen boxes which they with their teacher, Mrs. Ben Wright, took out to the aged, and the widows and widowers of the ward that evening. At each place the group sang songs, gave their salutes and otherwise dispensed dis-pensed good cheer, which was greatly great-ly appreciated by each person visited. The Blue Bird class of the Second ward Primary Association entered into the Thanksgiving spirit Tuesday Tues-day afternoon by visiting several homes of the ward and leaving Thanksgiving baskets. Their leader, Mrs. Cleone Cleghorn accompanied the girls. At each place visited a short program was given. The aged visited expressed hearty appreciation foi the though tfulness of the young people. |
