Show k Elections begin Mon. : Local voters will have their first hanee to get involved in grassroots Solitics for the 1988 election Monday, loril 25 when the major political ' rty members meet in voting 1 listrict caucuses - formerly known amass meetings. Residents will be meeting in new listricts, redefined this year by jtah County to cut election costs. The district party caucuses will segin at 7 p.m. Monday. At the aucuses, local residents will elect legates to their county party invention and the state party invention. The conventions help determine -hich candidates will appear on the 'Primary and final election ballot : jter this year in races where more Tian on party member has filed to un for office. V Those attending the district !')emocratic caucuses will also participate in a straw poll for presidential candidates - Utah's version of a presidential primary -even though the results are non-binding. non-binding. Republicans have decided to forego the straw poll this year. To help our readers understand the new voting districts, a map is included with this article. Residents will meet in the following locations according to their voting district: Republicans: Pleasant Grove Districts 1 through 8, will all meet at Pleasant Grove High School, 700 E. 200 South, meet briefly for a general meeting and then separate into voting districts. Lindon Districts 1 and 2 will both meet at Lindon Elementary School, 30 N. Main Street. Democrats:, Pleasant Grove No. 1, Anita Nielson residence, 1322 N. 280 West. Pleasant Grove No. 2, Kay Mitani, 4711 West State Road, (American Fork address). Pleasant Grove No. 3, Tom Busby, 605 E. 1020 North. Pleasant Grove No. 4, Max Shifrer, 560 S. 1300 East. Pleasant Grove No. 5, Mark Grover, 55 E. 300 South. Pleasant Grove No. 6, Ron Braislford, 475 E. 300 South. Pleasant Grove No. 7, Cloric Humble, 45534 W. 8800 North (county address ) . Pleasant Grove No. 8, Uvonna Duvall, 444 N. 75 East. Lindon No. 1 and 2 will both meet at the Orvil Davis residence, 425 E. 400 North. The district caucuses are the first step in the election process. All registered voters are urged to participate. |
