Show Coaches name Scott as Jay vee player of week llilllllPlllll'fH OSHfiU Raquel Scott, a junior who plays the guard position, has been selected as Junior Varsity Player of the Week. Coach Neresa Nielsen praised Scott for her defensive effort and hustle in the Uintah and Payson games this week. The coach identified Raquel's individual strengths in several areas. "Her quickness enables her to lead the fast break. Her defensive abilities and shooting have contributed con-tributed to our team's success," said Coach Nielsen. Raquel expressed her Viking pride by saying, "I feel really privileged and excited to be a member of this awesome team." In regard to this season, she commented, "I think we have an outstanding team and if we play as a team, no one can beat us." In developing her skills, Raquel states, "My aaa was one of my first coaches. He has helped me with everything I know. Basketball doesn't come easy for me, but because of the time and effort I've put in and the help of coaches and my dad, I feel that I've improved." Other athletic pursuits include her keen interest in softball. Scott plays third base and pitches for the Top Ten Flyers, where she has received recognition, including Raquel Scott MVP, and was selected on the all-star all-star team. Special travel opportunities have been available with the Flyers that Raquel has enjoyed very much. She also enjoys horseback riding and running. "Rocky" is the daughter of Lane and Pam Scott. Her plans for the future include college and her goal is a softball scholarship. |
