Show Ice fishing world records can now be recorded records. Some of those are yet small enough to be easily beaten and several categories remain open or vacant waiting to be filled by ice fishing enthusiasts. Categories are open for the following fish: Striped Bass, White Bass, Bluegill, Bullheads, Carp, Splake, Sucker and Brown Trout. The National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame recently announced that a world record fish catch can be set by ice fishing, the same as one can set a record in 'open-water fishing. Ice fishing catches by pole-line or by the tip-up method are qualified for record status by the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. The application and entry brochure are free and available to the public. Recognition in the ice fishing division was initiated by the Fishing Hall of Fame in 1980.
