Show Cora Olpin Bezzant history related to Battle Creek DUP On Oct. 12, the Battle Creek Camp held their meeting in the City Center. Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance was given by Chaplain Thelma Yorgason. "America" was sung, conducted by Gloria Seeley. JoAnn Liddle accompanied. Maymetta Johnson gave a report on the progress of the museum and thanked Alta Hone, relic custodian, for her many hours of service. 350 people toured the museum and log cabin during the month of September. Sep-tember. Cora Olpin Bezzant was honored and given a corsage for her 29 years as secretary of the camp. Her daughter, Mildred Sutch, gave a sketch of her life. She attended at-tended school in the old Bell School for the first three years, then moved to the Central School (the present 3rd Ward). She graduated from the eighth grade as valedictorian and graduated from BYU Normal School with a teaching certificate. She taught in the elementary schools for five years, then married Matthew Bezzant. They were the parents of six children. She has been active in the LDS Church, Garden Club and DUP. She is 91 years of age. A lesson was given on a native i pioneer, Sarah Elizabeth Robinson. Refreshments were served by Alta HOne, Lucille Faddis, Donna Erickson and Barbara Baxter. |
