Youth symphony to perform tonight Ii The Utah Pageant of the Arts Youth Symphony, under the direction of Conrad Dunn, will present a Christmas concert free to the public on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 6:30 p.m. The concert will be held at the Manila Elementary School, 1726 N. 600 West, Manila. Also featured with the Pageant Youth Symphony will be the Utah Children's Chorale, under the direction of Kay Asay. Medieval castles made by Valley View sixth graders in Mrs. Nicholes class are displayed by, L-- R, Krista Chesnut, Jesica Penrod, Jaycie Fidel, Julie Stansfield, Jason Purdie and Chris Shumway. Valley View students build castles igraduate of BYU in Elementary Education. She and her husband, Verlin, live in Lindon with their four children. Fran Nicholes sixth grade students at Valley View School have built medieval castles as a project again this year. The students looked at pictures and studied floor plans of castles before making their own. The students learned how the lords of the castles protected themselves against invaders by the way they This is the third year that Mrs. Nicholes class has done this project. Mrs. Nicholes has taught at Valley View for five years. She is a constructed their castles. The children learn firsthand how the lords lived in the Middle Ages. They also get a better understanding of the feudal system, lords versus the serfs. Letters to Santa Claus Dear Santa,, I have really tried to be good this year. There are alot of things I want for Christas, but I will just write down a few of them. Here they are: first a skateboard, my mom doesn't like them, but I think they're fun! -- second I would like another bird to replace Skippy, who was eaten by my cat - third I would really like a few pairs of peg-le- g pants, I don't like to flag -- 1 used to want a clock radio but I changed my mind because I already have a clock and a radio!
