Show j New policy permits sharing of jobs Members of the Alpine School Jj District Board of Education have approved a policy approving job sharing in the district. The new policy, approved at the December business meeting of the hard, was passed unanimously by ward members. Salary, fringe benefits and all other aspects of the program will be governed by negotiated agreement and district policies and procedures, board members said. The district can terminate the program at its option, however, in this event, affected teachers will be given an opportunity to be assigned to another teaching position. Dr. Clark L. Cox, district superintendent, in recommending approval of the policy, said the policy "makes it possible for us to employ two teachers for one position and gives guidelines as to qualifications." Richard Gappmeyer, a member of the board, said he thinks the policy "could be excellent for teachers in an extended day program" and "could be very beneficial to the district." Cox said the only thing teachers really share is the classrooms. It may make it possible for the district to "retain some excellent teachers who cannot for some reason teach fulltime." |
