Show Adams joins AF hospital staff Dr. Roger J. Adams has accepted a position on the American Fork Hospital Staff in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, according to announcement by Mark J. Howard, hospital administrator. Dr. Adams, son of K.V. and Gwen Adams of Pleasant Grove, returns "home" following 13 years of professional training experience. Following his graduation from Brigham young University, Dr. Adams moved to St. Louis where he received his D.M.D. degree from Washington University, i While in St. Louis, he also finished a residency in oral pathology and a fellowship in radiology. In 1979, Dr. Adams was accepted into the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the Mayo Clinic and has remained in Rochester, Minnesota, Min-nesota, until his move to Utah. Dr. Adams has authored several papers in professional journals, in addition to a chapter in a major medical textbook. He has been credited with designing a new technique for temporomandibular joint radiography (x-rays of the jaw joint) as well as being featured on the cover of the Journal of the American Dental Association for his of the upper jaw, cheek bones down past the lower jaw, including the temporomandibular joint, the joint the jaw hinges on. In addition to removing teeth, such as impacted wisdom teeth, the oral and maxillofacial surgeon is skilled in correcting disorders and deformities of the jaw whether congenital or from trauma. Dr. Adams states, "It is possible to surgically reposition all or a portion of the jaws that jut out or recede abnormally. In other instances, in-stances, it may be possible to perform surgery that will make dentures fit more comfortably and function properly." In addition to his hospital practice, prac-tice, Dr. Adams will maintain an office in the American Fork Medical Plaza where many of the procedures, for example wisdom teeth, can be done in the office. An open house for the public will be held Friday, July 15, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Dr. Adams office where you can meet or re-acquaint yourself with him. Informational exhibits will be displayed concerning the various aspects of maxillofacial surgery with Dr. Adams available for comments. DR. ROGER ADAMS work in Forensics.
