The Outstanding Young Women of America program is designed to honor and encourage exceptional young women Vwtwvn the ages of 21 and 36 who have distin-guished themselves in their homes, their pro-fessions and their com-munities. Accomplish-ments such as these are the result of dedication, service and leadership qualities which deserve to be recog-nized and remembered. These women, alnncr with approximately 23,000 fellow Outstand-ing Young Women of America from across the United Sates, will be presented in the pres-tigious annua awards volume. In addition, they are now being con-sidered for one of the fifty-on- e state awards to be presented to those women who have made u. muoi. uuUswortiiy contributions in their individual states. From these fifty-on- e state winners, the Ten Outr i standing Young Women of America will be chosen. Pleasant Grove High School singers to participate in Regional Solo Ensemble By SHARLYN LLOYD Coming up on Febru-ary 17th will be the annual "Solo Ensem-ble Festival" held at Timpview High School. It consists of the Utah County High Schools. The Chamber and Madrigual choirs are preparing for the heated competition and are hoping to receive high honors enabling them to proceed to the State Competition, held later in the year. Soloists and pianists are also competing against the other schools. Judges will judicate the songs and numbers and will rate them on pitch, blend-ing, quality, breath con-trol and the type of song. The dynamics are also a big part of the judging. Representing Plea-sant Grove High School in the soloist division will be Julie Major, Patti Prince, Karen Fullmer, Sherne Nielson, Victor Jewkes; a trio consisting of Wendy Fullmer, Shar-ly- n Lloyd and Julie Major, and also a selec-tion of girls from the Mixed Chorus. The Chamber Choir (which is 15-1- 6 select voices from the A Cap-pell- a Choir) will sing four or five numbers, which are coming along great The Chamber Choir members are: Sopranos - Karen Harmer, Linda Jewkes, Sharlyn Lloyd and Karalee Flinders; Altos - Wendy Fullmer, Sonja Johnson, Joyce f Keel, Linda Fralick; i Bass - Steve Ford, Ross Penrod, Doug Jensen, John Ekins; Tenors - ; David Cottle, Victor Jewkes, Brad Gerig and Todd Fulton. Bailey (4142 Cedar Hills), an elec-tronics student at Utah Technical College at Salt Lake, earned a place on the prestigious President's List for academic excellence during the school's 1982 fall quarter. The President's List requires minimum attainment of a 3.80 grade point average. Of the 48 quarter credit hours Mr. Bailey has taken he has achieved a cumulative 3.95 GPA at Utah Tech. Only 424 students -- less than six percent of the 7,103 enrolled for fall quarter - made the honors roll, according to Judd Morgan, the college's dean of students. 1 Robert A.
