Photo - Steve Cook ' JV's forth straight win ' The Vikes final touchdown came when Norman made a one handed catch of a Peterson pass. Normans reception came as he and a Caveman defender went high in the air and both players landed on their backs in the endzone with Norman holding on to the ball. The point after kick capped the days scoring. On the games final play, Larry Storey blitzed from his linebacker spot and sacked AF's Chad Robinson for a 16 yard loss. Robinson quarterbacked both the junior varsity and sophomore games. Phillips played an - outstanding game as a defensive end. Time after time the rangy junior turned in AF's outside sweep for little or no gain. The jv travels to Provo today while the sophomores are at home against the Bulldogs. Both games start at 4:00 p.m. American Fork left Pleasant Grove Monday evening wishing that the rain postponed junior varsity football game had simply been cancelled. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, September 30, but record rainfall prompted the coaches to the contest for Monday, October 11. PG scored first, and often, in overwhelming the visiting Cavemen, 35-- Neil Peterson returned to the starting lineup after an early season hip injury and threw two touchdown passes to Matt Norman to spark the jv to their 4th straight win. A Peterson to Norman pass gave the Vikes a 6-- 0 lead and on PG 's next possession, Norman booted a 22 yard field goal making it 9-- 0 in the first period. American Forks best play came in the second period when PG fumbled an option pitch and Mark Durfey picked up the loose ball and darted 18 yards into the endzone. The point after snap was muffed and a desperation pass was batted down. Just before halftime Shaun Story took a handoff, broke up the middle, cut right, and ran 24 yards to paydirt. AF blocked the extra point kick. Leading 15-- PG took the second half kickoff and three plays later, Corby Morris raced 61 yards around left end to score. Defensively, Jerry Adamson, Thayne Eyre, Mike Brailsford and Story took controll of the AF offense while the Peterson to Norman connection set up another Viking touchdown. Norman took a "pop pass" good for 28 yards and then tight end, Shane Phillips caught a Peterson pass that moved the Vikes to the two yard line. After a first down loss, Morris crashed over the left side and at the goaline was met head on by two AF defenders. The sound of the terrific collision could be heard halfway to AF and both Caveman players were slow in getting up. The touchdown ' plus " Normans p.a.t. kick raised the score to 28-6- . . II - ? .
