Show THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1980 - PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1980 Young Adults Are Planning Benefit Dance for Feb. 22 The Young Adults of the Northern Utah County region are plan-ning abenefit dance to be held on Friday, February 22. The pro-ceeds from this dance will be given to the Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake; According to Ed Bor-rel- l, coordinator for the dance, all area residents 18 and over are welcome to come. "The dance will be catered so that all ages will have an enjoyable time, he said. The theme song chosen for the dance is "Longer" and the decorations will reflect this romantic theme. Both couples and singles are invited and the dress will be semiformal. Music for the dance will be provided by the group "Portrait" The dance will begin at 8:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Stake Center, 275 East, 500 South. There will be a floor show at 10 p.m. hosted by Perry and Jon Bratt. Limited tickets are on sale for $3 per per-son. These tickets are available at Pridays, American Fork, Smith Drug, Pleasant Grove, and Western Auto, Lehi. For more informa-tion contact the Young Adult leaders in the respective areas. Duties of best man will be performed by Bart White, with Jim and Sam Colunga ushering. The bride-elec- t grad-uated from the Plea-sant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. She is currently employed in Orem. Her fiance attended schools in Provo and is currently employed in Pleasant Grove. The couple will make their first home in Pro-vo. Emron and LaRee Andersen of Pleasant Grove and C. Steve Hamilton of Eugene Oregon, are pleased to announce the forthcom-ing marriage of their daughter Janice Marie to Paul Mikel Colunga, son of Mrs. Delfina Col-unga of Provo and the late Nick Colunga. The couple will be married on Thursday, Feb. 14, and a reception will be held in their honor that same even-ing at the Pleasant Grove Tenth Ward Cultural Hall, 475 North 700 East, in Plea-sant Grove. Receiving will be from 7 to 9 p.m. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend. Attending the bride will be Terri Hamilton, a sister, Cindi Adams, Tanya Ogden and I Ron Story and Miss Michelle Huff Michelle Huff and Ron Story Plan Temple Rites Bishop and Mrs. Mar-tin E. Huff of Spanish Fork are announcing the marriage of their daughter Michelle to Ron Story, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith D. Story of Pleasant Grove. The young couple will be married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Thursday, Feb. 14. A reception is plan-ned honoring the couple at the Spanish Fork Stake Center the even-ing of their marriage. Michelle is a graduate of the Spanish Fork High School and LDS Seminary. She was ac-tive in school govern-ment and editor of the school paper. She is now attending UTC for the second year, com-pleting general educa-tion classes. Ron is a graduate of the Pleasant Grove High School and seminary. He was ac-tive in football and wrestling and a member of the Honor Society. He served a mission in the Netherlands Amsterdam mission field, and attended UTC for one year, and is currently enrolled in the BYU in secondary and special education. After their marriage they plan to make their future home in Orem. Lyndon Cook Will Review Writings of Joseph Smith The January 30th Book Review at the Recreation Center was postponed because of last week's beautiful snow fall, but was presented on Feb 6th by Beatrice Hayes. The book "The Tower and the Dream' by Jan Westcott proved to be outstanding and Bea's delightful presentation facinated her listeners. A stimulating ex-perience is in store for all who can attend the Review on Feb 13. Lyn-don Cook of the BYU faculty will review the unpublished writings of Joseph Smith. Mr. Cook is presently authoring a book on this interesting subject. Many Utah and Salt Lake Countv resirlpnts have asked the date of this review is a record crowd is expected. The members of the American Association of University Women are proud of the con-tinued success of these weekly book reviews that have ben spon-sored by the Pleasant Grove Branch of AAUW since last June. More intellectual ex-periences are planned for each Wednesday during the coming mon-ths. Time 4 p.m., at the Pleasant Grove Recrea-tion Center, on 200 South. Miss Delayne Holdaway and Lane D. Gray Delayne Holdaway, Lane Gray Plan Marriage Rites Delayne Holdaway will become the bride of Lane D. Gray in a ceremony to be per-formed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Friday, February 8. A reception will follow that same even-ing from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Stake Center, 275 East 500 South, Pleasant Grove. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Erald Ballard, Pleasant Grove and the late Klin M. Holdaway, and Mr. and Mrs. Blaine D. Gray. Both prospective bride and bridegroom are graduates of Plea-sant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. The bride-to-b- e is cur-rently employed at G.L. Corporation in American Fork. Her fiance is employed with Ashrock Ready Mix in Pleasant Grove. After their marriage the couple will make their home in Orem. Elysium Club Enjoys Evening at BYU Theatre Thursday in this endeavor, and are working towards the success of this event. Members of the Elysium Club enjoyed an evening at the theater last thursday at BYU's Fine Arts Center. Shakespeare's im-mortal "Hamlet" was superbly staged and directed by Tad Danielewski and a talented group of students of the arts. Peter Brunt was a con-vincing and enjoyable Hamlet. We commend the Department of Theatre Arts for this breath of Shakespeare. The Elysium Club is sponsoring this years Strawberry Days Queen Pageant. We are looking forward to sup-porting our community Hospital Notes Among babies born at the American Fork Hospital during the period Jan. 21 to Jan. 26 were the following from the Pleasant Grove and Lindon areas: Jan. 22, a boy to Sterling and Desiree Darland Mann. Jan. 24, a boy to Brian and Margo Adamson Sullivan. Jan. 26, a boy to Mar-tin and Shanna Jensen Welcker. Am. Heritage Students Have Poetry, Story Time 200 students entered this contest and choos-ing the winning selec-tions was difficult. On Friday, Feb 1, all classes at American Heritage School par-ticipated in an all sjchool asembly, to climax the Short Story and Poetry Contest conducted during the past few weeks. The three best poems and the best short story from each class were read in the asembly held at 8:30 a.m. The winning story in the 8th grade was 20 pages long, written by Rich-ard Flygare and will be read during some of the literature classes. There literature classes are a daily learn-ing experience in all grades at the school. The winners in each class included: 1st Grade: Elizabeth Ward, Becky Western, Travis Stockwell, Susie Beur, Julianne Sparks and Denice Shepherd. 2nd Grade: Kathy Olsen, Sherrie McEuen, Jeff Reever, Daniel Chalker, Cindy Nooner, Allyse Nielsen, Karen Cannon, Kathryn Skousen, Kristi Thomas, Stephanie Schmidt, Ben Andersen, Paul McAllister, Scott Hamolik. 3rd Grade: Kaylinn Jensen, Rachelle Dewey, Angie Huff-man. 4th Grade: Joe Western, BEcky Johnson, Matt An-drews, Paul Johnson, Ronald Shapiuro, Jenni Thomas. 5th Grade: Benji Bergin, Ethan An-drews, Jana Cannon, Ricky Barlow, 6th Grade: Colleen Zepeda, Kordon Baker, Melissa Anderson. 7th Grade: Christine Barlow, Joe Washburn, Eric Christensen. 8th grade: Richard Flygare, Ken Wilhelm. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons awards were presented to the winning students in the assembly and were pro-udly worn by the win-ners. In the coming weeks the winning poems and stories are being displayed on the bullitin boards so everyone can enjoy them.
