The Tole Tree is owned and operated by Dorris and Howard Sorensen. They have a son Glenn and a son in law Chris that have also been helpful in their business venture. The Tole Tree goes back to 1977 in Mrs. Sorensens home where she taught classes. The classes grew and grew until there was need for a larger place. In May of 79, a shop was opened at 185 West 200 south but things continued to grow until there was need for more space and so the business was moved to its pre- sent location 347 West 200 South. Dorris has had 5 years training in folk art and decorative painting. She has studied in Redlands, California; Dodge City, Kansas; Tulsa, Oklahoma, Denver Colorado; Col-orado; Phoenix, Ariz and Decatur, Illinois, with leading artists in the field. Dorris feels that she can teach anyone the technique of decorative art to apply ap-ply to their home, furniture fur-niture pieces, or for pleasure. |
