Show Watch Your Ice Creams, They Have Calories, Some More Than Others about twice as much sugar as ice cream, but less milkfat, usually between one and two percent. The addition of fruit or fruit juices imparts the characteristic flavor. Which has fewer calories:: ice cream, frozen custard, ice milk or sherbet? Sherbet and hard ice cream have about the same amount of calories, 258 per cup; ice milk 199 calories per cup; and soft frozen custard, 334 calories, says Kristy Mohr, extension specialist in nutrition and food sciences at Utah State University. Each of these deserts is a mixture of milk, stabilisers, sugars and flavorings combined in different amounts. Ice cream is made from cream, milk, sugar, flavorings and stabilizers and must contain at least 10 percent per-cent milkfat to be shipped ship-ped interstate. Frozen custards contain con-tain more egg yolks than the other products pro-ducts and ice milk contains con-tains less milkfat than ice cream, between two and seven percent if shipped interstate.
