Lindon Class Learns Cooking Pictures are some of the participants of the class as they prepare the vegetables for Tem-pur- a the Oriental Dish for the evenings lesson. Class members prepare and cook the meal designated for each weeks lesson. The cost $6 for four nights goes to pay for the food. Learning by doing is the best way, especially when you can make a meal of it. Interested adults should contact Lindon Elementary School 785-318- ' ' LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE Carlo Marie Curry, Stacey Gillman, Denise Nickell, Cindy Grass and Lora Patterson are FHA officers who will attend conference. Five Future Homemakers Will Attend Conference Five students of Joan Rippetoe's Future Homemakers of America Club, will be attending a leadership conference at Mesa, Arizona from Oct. 25 to Oct 28. Those atten-ding are - Carla Marie Curry, Stacey Gillman, Denise Nickell, Cindy Grass, and Lora Patter-son. The leadership con-ference will cover all areas of home economics such as cook-ing, fashion merchan-dizing, clothing and textiles, interior design, outdoor cooking, and careers in home economics. Students from Plea-sant Grove High School will stay in homes of FHA members in Mesa. Thirty students from Utah schools will be at-tending the conference, out of the thirty, five will be PGHS students. Joan Rippetoe is the advisor of Pleasant Grove High Schools Future Homemakers of America. EAGLES Gregory Turnbow and David Dubois got their Eagles last week. 2 Boys Get Eagle Badges pifiwit received Life Badges. Troy Slade, Chris Asay, and Merrill Adams were presented with Star Badges. Two Boy Scouts of America, Gregory R. Turnbow and David Dubois, received their Eagle Awards Sunday evening at the Stake Court of Honor. Gregory is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Turnbown and David is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loel Dubois, Both boys are embers of the Manila Third Ward. Brady Harris and Daryn Smith received Palm Awards. Eddie Adams, Taft Benson, Lester Howlett, Mat-thew Tso, and Van TIRED AND DIRTY One tired and dirty bunch of 5th graders pose for picture after their annual hike down Grovecreek Canyon. Students studied nature and cleaned up litter in several camp sites before the hike. 3 classes participated ins the event and enjoyed the day off from school, learning about cleanup. Students to Take Placement Exam The University of Utah advanced place-ment chemistry pro-gram has accepted nine students from Utah County to take an ad-vanced placement chemistry lab program. After passing the course, the students will receive three hours of college chemistry credit. Eight of the nine students who were ac-cepted for the program are from Pleasant Grove High School, the other student is from Orem High. The high school would like to wish these young men the best of luck. Martin Monson teaches the advanced placement classes at the high school. BPG Appoints Staff Member includes eleven years with Continental Bank Kay L. Jacobs, presi-dent of Bank of Plea-sant Grove, announced this week the appoint-ment of Clayton F. Carter to the bank staff. Mr. Carter is a graduate of Brigham Young University where he majored in baking and finance and minored in accounting, economics and statistics. He is also a graduate of the American Institute of Banking. Banking experience in Salt Lake City as a second vice president, loan officer, supervisor of Master Charge department and collec-tions manager. Presently, Mr Carter lives in Draper. Utah with his wife and seven children. He is a Viet Nam war veteran and serves in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
