Ciiy Softball Results Given; Playoff Game 3f for SIiEimon Field, Wednesday, July 20 CITY SOFTBALL JUNE 27 Carters-Fugal overwhelmed Intermountain Pipe, 13-2, when seven of the nine Carter-Fugal Carter-Fugal team members scored in the second inning. Weldon Nielsen made his first ap pearance in City League Ac tion with a double to start that second inning rally while cousin, Danny Nielsen homered for the winners. PACKS 8 PLAYBOYS 0 Colby Adamson hit consecutive con-secutive home runs to drive in four runs and boost Packs to a 8-0 win over the Playboys. John Becks two run homer topped off the Pack Scoring. Only a double by Bill War-nick War-nick and a fifth inning triple from Chad Wilson marred ' Alan Greens pitching perfor- mance. KAZCO 13 S&W0 Kazco came up with a 10 run fourth inning in downing Southam-Warburton, 13-0. Quen Wilson and Jan Christensen scored twice each in that big inning while, who else ? but LeRoy Maughn had a towering home run for Kazco. WASATCH ' BANK 9 RASMUSSEN 6 Kvle Whitehead became a winning pitcher in leading Wasatch Bank over Rasmussen Heating, 9-6. Jack Howe homered and Mike Elmer had a pair of doubles for the Bank team. For Rasmussen's, Mark Johnson was 3-4 for and John Goodman 2-3 at the plate. In a game played June 29, the Playboys edged Kazco 3-2 in nine innings. Stan Pack led off the ninth with a single and scored when Tom Hamann tripled. Dave Mathews walked on a 3-2 pitch pit-ch but Whitey Ratlif got out of the inning by retiring the next three Playboys in a row. Kazco made a comeback in their half of the ninth. LeRoy Maughn singled followed by Clarence Wilson's triple. However, Bill Warnick, winning win-ning pitcher, got the last batter bat-ter to fly out to save the one run win. David Ratliff homered for the Playboys in the second inning. NOTErThe Playboys made the trip to Elko over the Fourth and did a fine job in the Elko Tourney. In a rain delayed game on Thursday and Friday, the Playboys soundly defeated a team of Elko All-Stars, 17-3. Thir-dbaseman, Thir-dbaseman, Dave Mathews won a half gallon of "spirits" for hitting the tourney's first home run in that game. He also hit another homer in the rain delayed finish the next day. He claims that the prize is being used for a bookend, 'hic'l After their opening game win, the Playboys lost two close games, one an extra inning decision by one run. Intermountain Pipe 7 Playboy's 3 Intermountain Pipe handed the Playboys a 7-3 loss behind Nolan Wilkins second inning two run homer. Paul Hebbert and Dave Mouritsen each had two hits for the Pipe team. The Playboy's came to life in the bottom of the seventh and scored three runs. Packs 5 Kazco 1 Alan Green scattered four hits while teammate Steve Fracom drove in two runs to down Kazco 5-1 LeRoy Maughn led off the seventh for Kazco with another "rifle shot" round tripper. Carters-Fugal 12 S&W 1 Dan Nielsen had a perfect 5 for 5 night, including a three run opposite field homer to power Carter-Fugals over Southam-Warburton 12-1 For S&W, Bruce Harper had two hits and the R.B.I. Wednesday night, July 20 will be a big night at Shannon Field. A playoff game for the league championship cham-pionship will be followed by an All Star Game and an exhibition game between Watts Lumber and a Provo Womens team. Also scheduled are some relays ind throwing contests.
