WEDNESDAY JULY 13 6:30 S Wasatch Bank vs Packs 7:00 P Playboys vs Southam-Warburton Southam-Warburton 8:00 S Kazco vs Carter-Fugal 8:30 P Intermountain Pipe vs Rasmussen Heatine Kazco Manufacturing and Pack's Construction, both of Pleasant Grove, played in the Elko, Nevada, Invitational Softball Tourney over the July 4th weekend. Pack's bowed out in two games, losing to the eventual 2nd place team, Security Bank of Elko, in the first game, 8-5. A two run double by Alan Green and a towering three run homer from John Beck brought the Pack back after trailing 8-0. KAZCO 3RD Clarance Wilson guided his Kazco team into the final day for the second year in a row. Kazco played seven games over the four days, five of Named to the All-Star team from the Kazco squad were QuenWilson at shortstop and LeRoy Maughn at first base. LeRoy put on a power hitting display during the tourney by hitting four home runs, two in one game. During a second game against Reno Vulkanizing, Maughn blasted a "grand slam" that cleared the fence by at least 70 feet. In the special events, a threesome of Larry Sherriff, Quen Wilson and Chad Wilson won the ball relay event. The ball is placed against the center field fence, and at the starting signal, the center fielder sprints to the ball, picks it ud and throws to which were one run games. The Kazco team, behind the pitching of Whitey Ratliff and Alan Hardy, won four one the one run decisions, plus a 3-1 victory over Reno Vulcanizing. |
