Pack's bowed out in two games, losing to the eventual 2nd place team, Security Bank of Elko, in the first game, 8-- A two run double by Alan Green and a towering three run homer from John Beck brought the Pack back after trailing 8-- KAZCO 3RD Clarance Wilson guided his Kazco team into the final day for the second year in a row. Kazco played seven games over the four days, five of Named to the All-Sta- r team from the Kazco squad were QuenWilson at shortstop and LeRoy Maughn at first base. LeRoy put on a power hitting display during the tourney by hitting four home runs, two in one game. During a second game against Reno Vulkanizing, Maughn blasted a "grand slam" that cleared the fence by at least 70 feet. In the special events, a threesome of Larry Sherriff, Quen Wilson and Chad Wilson won the ball relay event. The ball is placed against the center field fence, and at the starting signal, the center fielder sprints to the ball, picks it ud and throws to which were one run games. The Kazco team, behind the pitching of Whitey Ratliff and Alan Hardy, won four one the one run decisions, plus a 3-- 1 victory over Reno Vulcanizing. P.G. Swim Team Rides Over Spanish Fork by 468 to 61 Scott Jones and Jason Allred both brought home 4 first place ribbons. That is another strong relay team (11-1- 2 boys) and the Coach ex-pects Bennett, Gardiner, Allred and Oborn to lend some excitment, and rack up some points in coming contests. This week the team will travel to American Fork to the Steel Days Invitational, which has been changed to Friday, July 8. The bus will leave the pool at noon, and the Meet will begin at 1:00. Swimmers are reminded of the fees to enter. 25 cents will be charged for each event you enter, to cover costs of the trophies and metals. This should be paid as soon as possible. 13 and 14 year old swim-mers are still needed. Contact the Coach or the pool and register in time to be part of the success for the season. Another victory was earned by the Pleasant Grove Swim Team last week as they defeated Spanish Fork by an overwhelming margin of 468 to 61. Coach Stan Crump praised the dedication of individuals who met the early hour and with temperatures more than cool, performed very well. In fact, he stated that several swimmers had their best "times" recorded at that contest. Stan explained that with the benefit of a big lead, it was a good op-portunity to swim people in events that they hadn't tried before. He was able to do some experimenting and "time" different swimmers who may want to challange another teammate. One of the strongest age groups is the year old boys. The Coach commented, "No one is going to beat that relay team, unless it is their own teammates." At the Spanish Fork Meet, the "B" team, comprised of Swapp, Welcher, Adamson, and Johansen, led the "A" team all the way, but in the final seconds was out touched by the "A" team. Norton, Slater, Huntsman, and Jones make up that team. This is a perfect illustration of the competition that keeps each swimmer striving to give 100 percent at all times. Even though an opposing team may be weak there is still reason to do your best. Local Boys Attend Camps For Basketball Several local boys attended basketball camps recently. Attending the Snow College Camp were Jason Allred, Brett Campbell, Dalian Allridge, Hal Gillman, Joe Peterson and Kevin Allridge. Kevin Allridge won the "one on one" trophy and Hal Gillman placed first in the camp bowling tourney. Attending the BYU Camp were Brent Peacock, Bruce Peacock and Robert Olsen. Brent was chosen on the All Star Team. is sK j k ; - - i KPGR SCHEDULE KPGR radio with Jim Starr and Frank Mills will broad-cast the Carter-Fuga- l vs Kaz-co Softball game next Wed-nesday at 8:00 pm. Leonard took the win after he spun Newman on the final turn of the Limited dash. Danny Houston was back in the Super Stock class Don West took the lead and the win in the Main event for the super stock class on a slick slick track. Radmall held the slot position behind Danny Houston but to no avail as Houston made no errors and came thru for second place. The Modified Main was Elwell's and three for three A special event was run for everyone who had never won a trophy. Six cars lined up and Greg Millar fought with Ivin Luke until Luke finally spun out then he came home with the win. LeAlma Rhodes made her bid for the lead and spun and Little Pete had everything to his liking as he took the win. Steve Turner is good at making starts but his problem is finishing. Grant Leonard decided to play bumper cars and was black flaged. After spin outs and pile ups Garrett Bennett came thru for the win. In the Super stock head race Mike Richins took Don West out in turn two and then went on to play a cat mouse game with Radmall til he and Houston got around then it was a short lived first place for Houston and a dash to the finish with Radmall taking a second win for the day. Jack Elwell took the Modified heat after Cliff Cambell rolled on his top in turn one. The stock main event had only six starters of the eleven qualifiers, then there were five as Joe Haroldson lost a wheel on the start. Lew Harris took an early lead with LeAlma in a steady comfortable second place until she spun on the final lap and Carolyn Gurney came thru to take second.
