Show Kazco Takes 16 local Players to National tourney . . byJackHill Sixteen ' lpca,l players . representing " Kazco of Pleasant Grove, 'participated . in the National . Class "A" Fastpitch . Softball Tournament Tour-nament held last week in Hamilton, Ohio. ' . Team sponsor, Clarence Wilson, received the invitation in-vitation to send the team through his lifelong association with Softball in he State of Utah. Next year, regional tournaments will be. held to qualify ' for the National' Tournament. - Extra Innings Kazco dropped' the opening game,l-0, to Baton Rouge, the class "A"r Champions from Louisiana. "Whitey Ratliff gave up just four hits, shutting out Baton Rouge for eight innjngs, . before the southern team scored jn the second extra inning. ' ' Son -Father Kevin Wilson,- Clarence Wilson and Gerry Berge had the three hits for Kazco. The Wilsons, son and father, had back to back singles in the sixth inning Kevin went from first to third orj his Dad's hit and made a' hard slide causing the ball to get "passed" the third baseman. Kevin raced home but was thrown out by a quick recovery and throw. Double Play Kazco executed a perfect double play to get a' Baton Rouge runner at the plate in the seventh ' inning. Mike Shoell cleanly handled a ground ball, "looked" Baton Rouge runner" back to third and fired the ball to- Colby Adamson at first! Adamson made' a perfect relay to catcher, cat-cher, Clarence- Wilson, who dove into the sliding runner with a perfect "tag" to complete com-plete the double play. Lose 5-0 to Austin John Beck, Gerry Berge, Alan Green and Charlie Fowles had hits in a 5-0 second game loss to a team from Austin, Texas. Other players representing Pleasant Grov-e were Jan Christensen, Wes Duvall, Lonnie Wilson, Rick Cook, David Ratliff and Bill Patterson. Patter-son.
