Show Campgrounds Close for Season As another school year commences, the camping and picnic use of our canyons loses its momentum. At this time of year it is time for the Forest Service to look to future seasons. The use of remaining manpower and money must be coordinated between cleanup of recreation areas and maintenance main-tenance of facilities. Campgrounds Cam-pgrounds must be prepared and put to rest for the winter. Inturn, plans for next year's opening and administration must be made. Most campgrounds will have partial closings while some will be closed for the season in the near future. Little Lit-tle Mill Campground will open September 10, 11, 12 and close on September 13. All of Granit Flat and Timpooneke Campgrounds will be open for weekend use, but portions of these will be closed Monday thru Thursday during Sep tember. Mt. Timpanogos Campground in Provo Canyon will remain open until September Sep-tember 30 unless unseen weather or maintnance requires its closing. Hope Campground will remain open as long as the water supply is sufficient to meet the needs. Most water systems will be drained by October 1 to avoid frost damage. Those who like to enjoy the out of doors and recreation areas during the autumn months mon-ths should be able to find plenty of places available. If in doubt, concerning sites open or closed, feel free to call the local Ranger's Office at Pleasant Grove. The fee system is still in effect in camp areas. Continued support in use of the trash trolley is requested. Leave a' clean camp and a dead fire. Enjoy your visit to our Natinal Forest. |
