Show P.G. City Council Conducts Regular Session Tuesday With Mayor Cornell Haynie presiding and all members of the council present, the city council conducted regular business at the council meeting held Tuesday evening. Boyd Fugal, president of the Kiwanis Club met with the council and expressed the interest in-terest of this club and its members to assist the city in civic projects. The Kiwanis Club is a community service oriented organization and the members are very interested in providing service to the community. Mr. Fugal reported that the club had considered several projects and asked if they could become involved in finishing the back room at the public library or in providing playground equipment for the ritv nark at the month nf Rattle responsibilities for each member on the committee. It was reported that American Fork City is planning to locate restroom facilities at the golf course in conjunction with the bike and bridal path planned around the golf course. This will therefore postpone for another year plans for constructing con-structing another set of restrooms at the course. This will help the cash flow of the golf course for the coming year. Mayor Haynie reported that at the recent Council of Governments meeting it was recommended that the cities not sign the county fire agreement until the basis for reimbursement is agreed upon. A committee is being organized to review the present fire agreement and make recommendations to the cities. The proposed engineering agreement between Pleasant Grove City and the engineering firm of Horrocks and Associates and John Carollo Engineers was reviewed and approved by the council. This agreement is for Step 1 and Step 2 of the planning of the four-city sewer treatment plant. Councilman E. Mark Bezzant reviewed the proceedings of the planning commission meeting held Feb. 6. The proposed subdivision on Locust Avenue had been discussed and several changes were suggested on the preliminary plan. The council expressed their appreciation to Mr. Fugal for the club's interest in-terest in assisting in these projects and also their willingness to receive assistance in these projects. Councilman Frank Mills reported on the road committee held last Wednesday. Proposed roads above the canal at about 100 North were reviewed with John Bylund, a property owner in this area. The problem of surface water drainage on Locust Avenue near the proposed Locust Hills subdivision sub-division was discussed and a recommendation made to the planning commission. The proposed street improvements im-provements and semiphore for Main Street south of Highwav 91 were also reviewed at this meeting. Grant Atwood, who is vice chairman of the Planning Commission, reported on a meeting he had attended in Provo which dealt with the flood insurance program. Mr Atwood discussed the things which were talked about at this meeting and presented the forms and procedure required to enter the program. It was reported that the advantage to city residents is that it makes low cost flood insurance available to those owners of homes located in flood channels. chan-nels. The insurance is made through the Housing and Urban Development Program of the government. City Recorder Mark Johnson was asked to prepare the necessary publications for , Pleasant Grove to enter this program.
