Show LDS Stakes Changes Names to Pinpoint Area of Location Because of the unusual world growth and to better reflect their geograpical location, the name of Pleasant Grove Stake of Latter-day Saints with headquarters head-quarters here in Pleasant Grove has been changed. The new name of the stake, effective immediately, is Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Utah Stake. Announcement of the new name change was made by the president of the stake, Leon R. Walker, following approval from the First President of the of the Church of Jesus Christ Church with headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Pleasnat Grove Utah Stake is one of 630 ecclesiastical ecclesias-tical units of the Mormon Church throughout the world. There are presently eight wards in the Pleasant Grove Utah Stake. They are: Pleasant Grove First, Fifth, Seventh and Eight Wards; Grove Ward, and Lindon, Lindon Second and Third Wards. Mormon stakes are found in 46 states and the District of Columbia in the United States and in 23 other countries. In areas of less concentrated Mormon Mor-mon population, members residing re-siding in 73 countries are organized or-ganized into districts and branches bran-ches of the 107 world-wide missions of the church. Total world membership is 3.3 million. mill-ion. The annual increase is about seven percent. Under the new naming system sys-tem adopted by the church, existing stakes and all new stakes in the future will be designated more appropriately with the name of the city and state, providence or country in which its headquarters are located. |
