Show Visiting Day and P.-T. A. Founders Day Successful Event At Central School their honor etitled, "Burn, Candles, Burn." Mrs. Winnefred Adamson was chairman and Mrs. Edith Anderson directed. Thirteen beautifully dressed mothers participated. A fitting climax to the day's program pro-gram was an informal tea. Presiding Presid-ing chairman was Mrs. Beulah Bradley, with Mrs. Dean Paulson and Mrs. Edna Newman, her assistants. as-sistants. The tea table was covered with a beautiful lace cloth, and green tapers in crystal candelabra were on either side of the large crystal bowl. Music was furnished by Miss Betha Storrs and Miss Jennie Jen-nie Gleason. . 1 A joint celebration of Parents' Day and Parent-Teachers Founders-Day Founders-Day was observed last Friday, -February 19th at the Pleasant Grove Central School. Principal Ray Merrill reports it was a real success in every way. During the morning hours scores of parents visited the various class rooms, acquainting themselves with their children's school work. At lunch time the parents were invited to the lunch room where they enjoyed a delicious luncheon. Following the luncheon parents held private consultations with the various teachers and many problems prob-lems concerning their children were talked over. At 2:00 P. M. a program was enjoyed en-joyed by 250 parents. Principal Merrill welcomed the parents and invited them to come often. He pointed out that due to war conditions, con-ditions, the problems confronting our schools are increasing daily. Overcrowded conditions due to the influx of people in our community was the greatest problem. Mrs. Thelma Adamson, the P. T.. A. president discussed our hot lunch situation, and also invited everyone to join the P. T. A. organization. or-ganization. A film "American. An-niversities" An-niversities" was then shown. During February of each year, the P. T. A observes Founder's Dav to commemorate the birthday of P. T. A. and honor its founders, Alice Birney and Pheobe Hearst, who organized the P. T. A. on Feb. 17, 1897. A very Impressive candle-lighting ceremony was presented in |
