Show HURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1973 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVI, UTAH THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1973 Garden Club Holds Meeting Recently at Verland Salings The Garden Club of Pleasant Grove had their October meet-ing at the home of Verland Saling. Everyone enjoyed the demonstrations on house plants given by Claudia Brown and Maxine Smith. The club learned how to transplant and propagate house plants; that you could give vitamins to plants about every six months and to be careful not to water plants with water that had been softened by a water softener. They were also shown how to hold over and grow new starts of Geraniums for the next year. All who were there had an enjoyable time and were re-minded to bring all kinds of Christmas things to make dec-orations for the shunt-ins- . 'i MISS CINDY LEE GORDON AND VEVIN FERGUSON Temple Marriage Planned by Cindy Gordon, Kevin Ferguson The Salt Lake Temple will be the scene of the forthcom-ing marriage of Cindy Lee Gor-don and Kevin Ferguson on Friday, Nov. 16. Cindy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack D. Gordon of PI. Grove. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Glen S. Fer-guson of Lehi. A wedding reception will honor the couple the evening of November 16th in the Lehi Stake Center, 200 North Cen-ter in Lehi. Cindy has chosen Myrna Jar-vi- s and Linda Hall as brides-maids, with Annette and Sher-ri- e Ferguson and Kelly Jean Gordon as junior bridesmaids. Gary Ferguson, brother of the groom, will act as best man. A color combination of pink and blue will be followed in the decorations. Cindy is attending the Pleas-ant Grove High School, where she is a junior. Kevin graduated from Lehi High School. He is presently employed in Salt Lake City. The couple will make their home in Pleasant Grove follow-ing their marriage. Gregory of Henderson, Ken-tucky, are announcing the en-gagement and marriage of their daughter Carolyn Ann and Jer-ry Marlin Gurr, son of Mr. and !Mrs,. WitfordM, Gurr of Pleas-ant Grove. The young couple are plan-ing wedding rites in the Salt Lake Temple Friday, Nov. 9. A reception is planned for that same evening in the Pleas-ant Grove Stake House, 455 East, 200 South, with receiving from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. One week later, another re-ception will be held in Hender-son, Kentucky, where they will be further honored. Carolyn is a convert to the LDS Church, and moved to Provo to attend the BYU. She is also working in Orem as a secretary at Bastian Realty. Jerry has been attending the BYU with a major in business management. He fulfilled an LDS mission in Florida, and is now attending Utah Trade Tech majoring in electronics. Everyone is cordially invited to attend the local reception this Friday evening. The young couple will make their home in Vineyard follow-ing their marriage and honey-moon. Pampered children, who get everything they want, develop into adults who want nothing that requires effort. ON TRIDENT SUB Administration supporters have urged the Senate to ap-prove full-spe- develop-ment of the Trident subma-rine. Senator Strom Thurmond (R-S- called it "the perfect weapon." PENSIONS LIMITED The Senate wrote into the pension-refor- m bill a $75,-00- 0 annual limit on pensions for corporation executives. Sen.Gaylord Nelson, offered the amendment to fix such a ceiling. AAUW November Meeting Held at Holdaway Home The November meeting of the Pleasant Grove Branch of AAUW was-hel- d at the home of Miss Marjorie Holdaway. were: Edna New-man and Leaone Carson. The feature speaker was Mrs. Frank Newman. Her topic was: "Global Interdependance." She explained how the many prob-lems which we are inflicted with today, are world wide problems. All nations should work together to solve them. We should study all facets of the problems not just one side of them. Eva Reimschussel and Ora Thorne gave legislative reports on "How To Pass A Law" and "Central Utah Project." It was a very informative and argumentative lesson. Members present were: Edna Newman, Ella Jackson, Ora Thorne, Lois West, Jennie Gleason, Eva Reimschussel, Thelma Martell, Marjorie Hold-away, Vera Wagstaff, Leaone Carson and Retta Crease. She reigned at dance last Fri-day and will compete for State title next March in Salt Lake. Debra Richins Named as FFA Sweetheart Last Friday Evening Debra Richins was crowned FFA Queen by David Richards, president of Future Farmers of America, Friday night at the Harvest Hoe Down. Debra is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Richins of Lin-do- She will now compete for State FFA Sweetheart in March at the FFA convention. She will be competing against girls from all over the state of Utah. Judging of the FFA Sweet-heart is based on poise aond appearance. New Baby Born In Nevada to Former Residents Word was received from Fal-lon, Nevada on Halloween Day of the birth of a baby boy to Thad and Rosemary Adams, former residents of Pleasant Grove. The baby is to be nam-ed Christian, and weighed 8 lbs. 12 ozs. Thad is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Adams and Rose-mary is the daughter of Victor Forsyth, of Pleasant Grove. Mrs. Adams and her daugh- ter Nanalie, left Friday to go to Fallon to help out with the new grandchild. Thad is presently stationed at Fallon U.S. Navy Air Sta-tion, and will finish 414 years of service in December. The family will then make their home in Provo, where Thad is to enroll at Utah Technical Col-lege at Provo. Golden Keys Hold Annual Halloween Party on Oct. 26 The Golden Keys Club had their annual Halloween on Oct. party 26 at the home of Car-ol Adamson. Pot luck and vis-iting were enjoyed by all. Those present included Le-one Rutledge, Jane Smith, Lor-ett- a Carter and Betty White-ley- .
