Show THURSDAY, MARCH 1 8, 1971 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, MARCH 18, 1971 Symphony Ball Date Changed to Next Wednesday The Symphony Ball, with a theme of "Cinderella Fantasy" which had been scheduled for this Thursday (tonight) has been for next Wed-nesday, March 24, because of the BYU-UCL- basktball game according to sponsors. The ball will start at 8:15 p.m. with guests enjoying din-ner, fine entertainment and dancing. Tickets are $10 per couple. All other events, as announ-ced in last week's Review, will .be featured at the newly sche-duled date, according to the sponsors of the ball. PI. Grove DUP Holds Meeting On March 12 The Pleasant Grove Daugh-ters of Utah Pioneers Camp meeting was held March 12 in the Timpanogos Stake Center at 2 p.m. Captain Fern Hicks was in charge of the meeting and bus-iness. Edna Newman gave a very interesting lesson on the temp-les. Two county officers were present and twenty-thre- e mem-bers. Warnick at 2 p.m. Captain Alta Hone was in charge and conducted the meet-ing, which consisted of com-munity singing, 'Rock of Ages' a pioneer song. A lesson on "The Mormon Temples" was given by Mrs. Thelma Rem-mel- e, assisted by Mrs. Lacy O. White. A special musical number, "How Beautiful Thy Temples, Lord," was given by Mrs. Shir-ley Stone, accompanied by Mrs. Maymette Johnson. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Warnick and Mrs. Lacy White. There were 15 present. HOSPITAL NEWS Among babies born at Am-erican Fork Hospital during the past week, were the following to parents from the Pleasant Grove area: March 3, a girl to Kirk and Julie Hiatt Carling. March 11, a girl to Kenneth and Linda Kelley Slater of Am-erican Fork. Other patients at the hos-pital during the week from this area included Nadine Radmall, Kay William Osborne, Guy L. Sorensen, Daun Marie Hunt, Emily Pederson, Joyce Rog-ers, Hyrum Loader, April Brown Abel Pineda, Jack Hill. Irene Roudabush, Bruce G. Parker, William A. McFadden, Lois Smith, Michael Moore, LaPreal Morford, Beatrice Wright, Ricky Hood, Melba W. Holman, Gladys Richins, Wen-dell Swenson, Alfred Winn, and David Lane Miller. Jan Rawlings Back in U.S. in Army Hospital Jan Rawlings, who was re-cently wounded in Vietnam, called his parents from Letter-man'- s Hospital in San Fran-cisco last weekend. He had been returned by air from Viet-nam, with stopovers in Japan and Hawaii. He reports his con-dition is improving, but that he will be in the hospital for several weeks. His mother said Tuesday he reported his leg had been brok-en again when he arrived in the states,- and he was now in traction. One leg was IV2 inches shorter, and this was the rea-son for the procedure. Jan thanked everyone in the Pleasant Grove area for their concern, and is now doing as well as can be expected. He does not know as yet what his military duties will entail, once he recovers and is discharged from the hospital. Variety Club Is Entertained by Mrs. Ora Boren Wednesday, March 10 Ora Boren entertained the Variety Club at Park's Cafe in Orem. A lovely luncheon was served at a long table, decorated with pastel nylon set favors and spring flowers. The guests were entertained by listening to tapes from Ora's daughter and son-in-la- Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sweat, who have recently arrived in Ger-many and will be there for some time. It was very inter-esting and educational. Hostess gifts were persented to Ora and Dorothy Walker and prizes were received by Ida Halliday and Lucille Butt, who was a guest. Those present besides those mentioned were Evelyn Schoo-nove- r, Beth Warburton, Mar-garet Kelley, Ruby Warnick, Thelma Swenson, Mary Swen-son, Mary Harper, Myrl Arm-itstea-and Juanita Larsen. A.F. Sportsman Sponsor Public Meeting Tonight The American Fork Sports-men's Association is sponsor-ing a public meeting Thurs-day, March 18 (tonight) at 7:30 p.m. at the Utah Power and Light auditorium in American Fork. Malcolm Beck, American Fork c;ty councilman, will pre-sent plans for the improvement and enlargement of the Ameri-can Fork Boat Harbor. There will be a question and answer session, and everyone is invit-ed to attend. Gun Safety Class Registers Next Monday Night The Pleasant Grove Sports-men are sponsoring a Gun Safe-ty Class. All interested must register Monday March 22 at the Sportsman-Lion- s building, from 5 to 7 p.m. Registration will cost $2.00 and the classes will be held Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. for three weeks and firing will be done with 22's on the last Sat-urday. Classwork will start on Thursday, April 1. |
