Show Council Holds Lengthy Session Monday Night on City Problems The Pleasant Grove City Council held a busy session at their meeting Monday evening, even-ing, lasting until 1 a.m. Tuesday Tues-day mornnig. Proceedings of the meeting were as follows: Quintin Hale and Lennie Cul-limore Cul-limore met with the council to discuss the possible location of a mobile home park in the area west of the city on Highway 91. This is in the vicinity of the old Green Grove location. They were informed that only part of this area is presently located within the city limits, so that if the trailer court was built it would have to be annexed to the city. Problems of surface water and sewer connections were also al-so discussed as possible disadvantages disad-vantages of building in this area. The council encouraged them to further investigate the various aspects of locating in this area and then to meet with the Planning Commission with definite plans for their investigation. Councilman Cornell Haynie introduced Wayne Frandsen to the city council members. Mr. Frandsen was recently accepted accept-ed by the Auxiliary Police Department De-partment as a new member, and Councilman Haynie asked for the council's vote of approval. ap-proval. This was then given. Ed Luck met with the council coun-cil to discuss construction of a new subdivision to be located near Nathaniel Drive and to be called East Grove Estates. The council gave preliminary approval ap-proval for the construction of homes in this area, pending submittal of plot plans and compliance with city requirements require-ments and restrictions. Mr. Luck submitted in writing his agreement to comply with city stipulations anc dodes. John Swenson and Jess Burn-side, Burn-side, local realtors, met with the council and submitted plans for a subdivision of duplex dwellings to be located on 200 South and around Loader Drive (Continued on page 5) P.G. The council coun-cil approved this subdivision, on the condition that the city building codes and requirements require-ments be compliedwith. Mayor Jack Cook introduced Dennis Ruffell of hte Jaycees, and reported to the council the Jaycees had requested permission permis-sion to head the city cleanup campaign for 1971. The council adopted a proclamation signed by the mayor proclaiming Clean Up Days in Pleasant Grove. They also expressed appreciation ap-preciation to the Jaycees for their willingness to sponsor this drive. Mr. Ruffell also stated the Jaycees are presently planning plan-ning to make extensive improvements im-provements in landscaping at the underpass on Highway 91. Kent Taylor and Wendyl Jar-vis Jar-vis of Lindon, along with Gilbert Gil-bert Horrocks, city engineer, met with the council to discuss the possibility of joining with Pleasant Grove City in the use of the sewer disposal plant. They were informed that our plant is close to capacity at the present time. Mr. Horrocks stated that if Lindon City were allowed to use this plant it would require an addition costing cost-ing approximately $200,000. It was recommended that members mem-bers from both councils get together to-gether to see if it would be possible to work out an agreement agree-ment with both cities for the use of these facilities. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hay-more Hay-more met with the council to discuss the matter of a proposed pro-posed road from Third to Fourth East on 9th North. The council discussed this matter and felt that it should be presented pre-sented to the planning commission. com-mission. Mr. and Mrs. Hay-more Hay-more were requested to meet with the planning commission at their next regular meeting. Council Michael Vicchrilli stated that he has received several sev-eral complaints from citizens in the city who have been charged charg-ed when they have taken trash to the garbage dump. Councilman Council-man Blackhurst reported that he will bring this matter up at the meeting to be held Tuesday Tues-day evening with county officials offic-ials who are now running the garbage dump operation. Councilman Haynie suggested suggest-ed that a fence be installed at the canal crossing on Nathaniel Nathan-iel Drive to guard the children crossing this bridge as they go to and from school. The Council Coun-cil asked Mr. Haynie to obtain cost estimates for this project. i The council requested that Al-roy Al-roy Gillman, watermaster for the irrigation company, be invited in-vited to attend the next conn cil meeting so that questions that have arisen concerning irrigation ir-rigation water and ditches can be clarified. The council discussed the proposed ball diamond complex com-plex to be constructed at the present big ball park location. They felt that the LDS Stake presidents in Pleasant Grove should be invited to a special meeting where the proposed plans can be explained. It is felt that they should have a voice in the plans since the two stakes use these facilities extensively for their summer athletic programs. The council approved the proposed pro-posed land exchange between the city and Skyline Industries. It is felt that this land exchange ex-change will be in the best interests in-terests of the area for future industrial development. The council approved installation install-ation by the Strawberry Days committee of poles at the triangles tri-angles entering the city for use of hanging Strawberry Days banners. The lease agreement between Lehi, American Fork and PI. Grove City and the State of Utah for the land to be used for the Tri-City Golf Course was read by Councilman Marvin Mar-vin Green. The council authorized author-ized the mayor to sign the lease. |
