Show Farm Bureaus to Hold Joint Business Meetings The local Farm Bureau organizations or-ganizations of American Fork, Lehi and Pleasant Grove, will hold their annual business meetings jointly at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 25 at the American Am-erican Fork lst-5th-llth Ward Social Hall, 381 South 300 East. Guest speaker for th eoccas-ion eoccas-ion will be Jack A. Olson, executive exec-utive secretary of the Utah Taxpayers Association. Mr. Olson Ol-son is a native of California, and graduated from the University Univer-sity of Southern California. Mr. Olson's work as executive execu-tive secretary is varied and interesting. in-teresting. He works to keep taxes down by checking budgets bud-gets in all 20 counties, the major ma-jor cities, and the 40 school districts. dis-tricts. These are checked before be-fore public hearings and he makes recommendations as to how money can be saved. If budgets are too far out of line and no progress can be made with officials, he will appear ap-pear at the public hearing and make the facts public. He fights for no political party and no certain group. Actually the several sev-eral hundred businesses who support the Association by small donations, are helping everyone to keep their taxes down. Mr. Olson has just completed attendance at the 1971 Utah State Legislature and will be current on the activity there. He was also a participant in the 1971 Utah County Budget Hearing and will be available for commenton this subject. Dinner will be served and the annual business for each area will be transacted. Tickets may be purchased in Pleasant Grove from Bill Pratt, 785-4001. Cost for the dinner will be 75 cents per person with the county organization or-ganization sustaining the rest of the cost. |
