Show Board Sets 1971 Regulations for Fishing in Utah Major action at the Fish and Game Board meeting held in Salt Lake City involved setting the 1971 fishing regulations. Board members set Saturday, May 29 as the opening day allowing sportsmen a three day weekend, if they desire. Memorial Mem-orial Day is Monday, May 31. Season length and fishing hours remain the same, but changes were made in bait regulations, bag limits, and closed waters. Corn will be illegal il-legal as bait on some waters and chumming is also outlawed on the same waters. Bonus cutthroat and brook trout will no longer be allowed allow-ed in Summit, Wasatch and part of Duchesne counties. Six fish will be the limit on the Green River and the grayling limit is reduced from 16 to 8 fish. The new proclamation, which becomes effective January 1, 1971, also lists several waters closed for angling. Most of these are waters chemically treated in 1970 or new impoundments. im-poundments. Other action taken by the Board included approval of the 1971-72 budget and recodification recodifica-tion of the fish and game laws. The Board authorized the Division of Fish and Game to negotiate with Mountain Fuel Supply Company regarding an easement on Division lands in Duchesne County. The Board also heard a request re-quest from the Utah Woolgrow-ers Woolgrow-ers for increased participation in predator control funds. |
