Show THURSDAY, MAY 8, 16 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, MAY 8, 1969 v. r.: i I v x i.y ..jv J PLEDGE SUPPORT Mayor Haws Durfey gives tickets to Mayor Paul T. Fordham, as Mayor Winston Crawford, Mayor Van Burgess, Mayor Calvin Swenson look on in ap-proval. Mayors pledged support for American Fork Civic Chorus concert set for May 17. American Fork Civic Chorus Plans Concert for Tabernale on Saturday Evening, May 17th Mayors of five neighboring communities in Utah County have expressed their approval of the concert to be presented May 17 by the American Fork Civic Chorus. Mayor Paul T. Fordham, Pleasant Grove; Mayor Van Burgess, Alpine; Mayor Calvin Swenson, Lehi; and Mayor Winston Crawford, Orem, met at the American Fork City Hall last week to re-ceive tickets to the concert. Mayor Joseph Christiansen, Lindon, was unable to attend, due to a previous commitment but expressed his support for the project. Tickets will be dis-tributed in each of the above named communities as well as in American Fork. Terming the civic concert 'a spendid project to unify Utah County," the mayors congrat-ulated American Fork Mayor F. Haws Durfey on the suc-cesses of the chorus in the ap-pearances they have made in concerts throughout the area during recent years. The May 17 concert to be held in the Alpine Stake Tab-ernacle will be a fund raising event, with proceeds used to purchase matching jackts for male chorus members and ma-terial for dresses for the lad-ies who are members of the singing organization. The jackets will remain the property of the chorus and should a member drop out, his jacket will be returned to the chorus for the next member. Chorus members are donating $5 per person toward the uni-form dress fund. Additional proceeds are expected ot be raised through donations from business, professional and key citizens contributions. American Fork City began the Civic Chorus Boosters fund with a contribution of $300. For this contribution, they will re-ceive a block of tickets which will be distributed to their em-ployees. Other business houses, key citizens of the community and professional people are now being contacted for contri-butions, wi httickets to be pro-vided through their efforts. The American Fork Civic Chorus, directed by Jack Lar-se-has been an outstanding represetative of the city of Am-erican Fork since they were organized several years ago. The chorus has appeared in concerts at many Utah com-munities, with performances at Brigham City, Provo, Sun-set, and Helper among recent concerts. The civic chorus has been in-vited to appear at the Utah Muncipal Convention in Sept-ember, which will be held in the new Salt Palace. The bene-fit performance on May 17 will provide uniform jackets and dresses for the chorus mem-bers for future appearances and will provide local residents an opportunity to hear this out-standing musical aggregation. The chorus has been invited to sing at several ap-pearances, but have found it necessary to decline, due to expenses involved. The Civic Chorus Boosters organization is led by Mayor F. Haws Durfey, who organized a citizens committee to sponsor the benefit concert. Committee members are now contacting townspeople, invit-ing them to become Civic Chorus Boosters.
