" t ' - V)Ui,f SEMINARY OFFICERS Front, Glen Walker, Don Shelline Dale Anderson, and back, Scott Smith, Debra Iligginson' Gloria Miller and Sterling Wadley, are Seminary officers! Glen Walker Named as New President By Pleasant Grove Seminary Students new secretary and Gloria Mill-er is historian. The Freshman vice president will be chosen in the fall. New officers for the Pleas-ant Grove Seminary were at the recent Spring Social. Glen Walker was nam-ed as the new president. Other officers are Sterling Wadley, executive vice presi-dent; Dale Anderson, senior vice president; Scott Smith, Jr. vice president; Don Shell-ine, Sophomore vice president. Debra Higginson will be the Don Fenton Gets Employee of Month Award Don Fenton, Pleasant Grove, who is an employee at the Tooele Ordnance Depot, was named employee of the month for March at the huge TOD government facility. Don works for the Care and Preservation Branch. During the month of March he completed over 250 ship-ments without error. He pre-pares and addresses all class-ified and security-typ- e ship-ments that go off depot. The Forest Service have de-veloped the area so that many may see and enjoy it. There are also many trails and arched bridges to add interest to na-ture lovers. A Cascade Scenic Drive will be completed this year that will take off from the summit of the Loop road to the Springs. The access road now is from the top of the Deer Creek Res-ervoir to Charleston to Deckers Pass and through the Wasatch Park. Forest Rangers Steven Rush-to- n and Bruce Perry of the Pleasant Grove District will show the Club members and guests the beauties of our nat-ural resources and tell how we can conserve or protect them that many may enjoy and visit this particular area. f ! j MISS GERI MONSON Geri Monson Will Marry Robert Porno Saturday, May 10 in Idaho Falls Temple in drama and a member of the "New Freedom Singers." They will be married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple May 10, 1969. A ladies shower honoring Geri will be held May 14, 1969 at Manila Ward Cultural Hall, after which they will depart to make their home in Argen-tina for three years where he will attend the University at Buenos Aires. Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Monson announce the forth-coming marriage of their daughter Geri to Robert D. Pomo ,son of Carlos Pomo of Hollywood, California. The bride - to - be graduated from the Pleasant Grove High School and from Rick's College in Idaho, where she has been active in drama. She has also been a member of the "New Freedom Singers." The groom graduated from High School in New York and he also graduated from Rick's College in Idaho. He was active J Var Gillman Is New Lindon Lions Club President J. Var Gillman was elected and installed president of the Lindon Lions Club at a recent full membership meeting, ac-cording to Harold Erickson, immediate past president. Elected and installed at the same meeting were Wayne Peay, first vice president; Le-lan- d Millar, second vice pres-ident; Don Gillies, tail twister; James Durrant, Lion tamer and Charles Rodeback, one-yea- r di-rector. Maron Oveson conduct-ed the installation ceremonies. Three new members were ac-cepted into the club, Andrew Shelline, James Durrant and Stanley Biggs. Mr. Ercikson expressed his thanks to all citizens of Lindon who assisted so loyally during the recent "White Cane" drive Anderson Sisters Will Entertain for Gold Star Mothers The Anderson Sisters will entertain at the annual Gold Star Mothers Tea on Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Boyd Fugal. Gold Star Mothers of this area are special guests and all mmebers of the Auxiliary and district officers are invited to be in attendance. The Anderson Sisters, an out-standing group of entertainers, has given over 300 programs in Utah, Texas, Nevada and Ari-zona.. They have appeared locally, nationally on television for the Brigham Young Univer-sity Christmas shows. The three older girls parti-cipated in the televisd College Show at the Hollywood Bow on April 30th and are anticipating a trip to the orient with a USO tour this summer. Committee members who are in charge of the affair are Madge Peterson, Phylis Thom-son, Joyce Jacobs, June Mon-son and Venice Fugal. Fiesta Mad re Club Meets Wednesday With Norma Freeman The Fiesta Madre Club held their club meeting at the home of Norma Freeman last Wed-nesday. After a delicious din-ner a book review was given by Zella Freeman. The book title "I've got two hands and I'm busy wringing them," by Jane Goodsell. It was enjoyed by eleven mem-bers. Senior Citizens Plan Trip to Park City Saturday, May 77 Senior Citizens of the Pleas-ant Grove area are planning a trip to Park City Saturday, May 17 to see the stage play, "The Cat and the Canary." City Recreation Gives Out Revised Registration Times The recreation department would like to announce a re-vised registration schedule for the Summer Recreation Pro-gram. Elementaray Schools: Wed-nesdays and Fridays from 8:15 to 9:00 a.m. at the various school offices.. Secondary: Any school day at the school offices. Adults and Pre-Scho- child-ren: Register at the City Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. 4-- H Club to Sponsor Bicycle Safety Day Saturday, May 77 The Cute Cookies 4-- Club will hold an annual Bicycle Safety Day at the Central School, Saturday morning, May 17. This will be sponsored by the club, as it has the past two years. Bicyclists can get their bi-cycles ready for inspection, and be sure they are ready for the summer cycling. |
