Show THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 1968 PLEASANT GROVE REVIEW, PLEASANT GROVE, UTAH THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 1968 Region 4 Football League to Start Friday; Vikings at Orem The 1968 Region Four foot-ball season will open Friday, Sept. 6 with all 10 teams play-ing league games with the pos-sible exception of Carbon and Pay son. Carbon will no doubt forfeit to Payson due to the fact that the Dinosaurs have been minus a coaching staff as of last Saturday, due to the teacher and school board con-frontation in Price. According to the official Re-gion Four schedule, American Fork will play at Lehi; Provo at Uintah; Springville at Span-ish Fork and Pleasant Grove at Orem. All are night games except the P.G. Orem contest, which will begin at 3 p.m. Only five teams out of the 10 have had the benefit of pre-season games, all played last Friday. The Lehi Pioneers dropped Weber High School 0 in a contest staged in Lehi. The Provo Bulldogs bowed to the Box Elder Bees, 30-1- Payson smothered the Bear River Bears 32-- Uintah lost to Union 21-1- 4 and Spanish Fork bowed to Bonneville, 6-- From all present indications, the Lehi Pioneers may make it tough this season for the oth-er teams in the Northern Divi- - sion of Region Four. Payson may again be the powerhouse in the Southern Division. Of course the Orem Tigers of Coach Udell Westover, will continue to be a force to be reckoned with. As Coach Ron Nielson of the P.G. Vikings re-marked, "Any Region Four senior high school with an en-rollment of 1,000 or more, has a distinct advantage over the smaller schools." Even at that, the Vikings ended with a 7-- 2 record last year. At Lindon Fair . . . Little League Football Will Start Saturday with 4 Games Kickoff for the 1968 Utah Val-ley Football Conference is this Saturday at 12 noon, at the Lindon City Park. The four games will pit the Lehi, A.F., and P.G. area teams, and is planned to be the highlight of the Lindon Fair. There will be no admission charge for these games. Games to be played will be the undefeated Lehi Packers against Alpine Rams at 12; the A.F. Bears vs. the Lehi Giants at 1:15; the P.G. Eagles vs. the A.F. Browns at 2:30 and to finish the day the Lindon Steelers will play the A.F. Colts at 3:45. On Saturday, Sept. 14, at American Fork games will be featured during the late morn-ing and early afternoon. A big barbecue dinner will be served by the Lehi, American Fork and Pleasant Grove Jaycees. The games and the barbecue will be at the American Fork City Park.
