'Family Healh Week' Prolaimed By Rampton for Nov 17-23 Governor Calvin L. Rampton Ramp-ton declared the week of Nov. 17-23 "Family Health Week" during a proclamation ceremony cere-mony held last week at the State Capitol. According to Dr. J. Robert Paulsen, Utah State Medical Association's chairman of the Utah Academy of General Practice, the Governor's declaration dec-laration is being issued in conjunction con-junction with President Lyndon Lyn-don B. Johnson's "National Family Health Week" Proclamation. According to Dr. Paulsen, Great strides have been made in the improvement in family health in both Utah and the Nation. Na-tion. National figures indicate that death rates among babies during the first year of life reached a new low of 22 deaths for every 1,000 births last year. Boys and girls are nof largely free from the threat of polio, measles and other potentially crippling childhood diseases. One of every three cancer patients pa-tients are saved today. Twenty million older Americans are protected by Medicare. "The family physician is the hub around which good family health resolves," Dr. Paulsen said. "He bears a unique responsibility. re-sponsibility. He is the crucial link between the family and the highly specialized services of modern health science," he added. |
