Tele-phone bells will do. Beginning Nov. 27, operators who previously answered the dialed 113 with "Information" will change their reply to "Di-rectory Assistance." The new term is being adopted to more accurately describe the service of helping telephone users find numbers not listed in their di-rectory. Gene L. Britt, local manager, said many persons needlessly place two calls when only one is necessary. He said most numbers and information re-quested from the operators can be found in the directories. The use of "Directory Assist ance" will begin in conjunction with delivery this week of 1968-6- 9 telephone directories. The new book contains a "Call Guide" which includes inform-ation on items such as toll free calling areas, long-distanc- e calls, emergency numbers and area codes. More than 85,000 directories will be distributed in areas ser-ved by thte Provo office. The books will contain some 45,000 white page listings nearly 5,000 more than the previous year. Britt said there has been an increase of 80 telephones in Pleasant Grove during the last year. Product Development Corp. of San Francisco will direct the distribution. About 75 persons will be hired through the Utah State Employment office to make deliveries ( , ' .Trv A va y w its ,i MR. AND MRS. MAX J. Turn your head-lights onto low beam to let the other driver know where you are. Drive in the center of your lane and be ready to stop at any time. Don't follow tail lights too closely in the fog . . . Reduce speed so that you'll have time to make an emer-gency stop if a stalled vehicle suddenly looms up in front of you.
