Hostesses for the evening were Winnifred Adamson, Bethel Allred and Marjorie Holdaway. President Phyllis Banks pre-sided and welcomed members, and the special guest Cumorah Cullimore. Prayer was given by Elaine Walker. Drucilla Smith read the minutes of the September meeting. Lucille Hillman gave an interesting report on the Legislative Council. She en-couraged all members to study and gain a better understand-ing of those candidates run-ning for office in our coming election. It was also stressed that everyone should go to the polls and vote. Afton Miller chairman of the program committee then read a lovely poem written by Ber-nic- e Christensen, a deceased member entitled "The Most Joyous Day." Afton introduced the program for the evening, which was a book review to be given by a member Ora Thorne. Ora reviewed the book, "The Big Family" by Bellamy Part-ridge. The book review was very well given, and enjoyed by all present. It is the story of a family living in New York soon after the Civil War. The many interesting and humor-ous experiences told of this family as they were growing up were very enjoyable, and brought back many pleasant memories to those present when they were growing up. The hostesses served delic-ious refreshments to 24 mem-bers and the guest. Smokey Sayu (TROUBLE IES U tabes only one match I |
