Show PTA Council Holds Meeting Last Thursday, Oct. 24 A combination luncheon and business meeting was held by the Pleasant Grove PTA Council Coun-cil at Central School, Thursday, Thurs-day, October 24, at 11.45 a.m. Lunch was prepared by the Central School Lunch Personnel. Person-nel. The room was beautifully decorated with flowers from Hawaii, provided by Mrs. Tal-mage Tal-mage M. Thomson, Council Hospitality Chairman. The president and vice president presi-dent of each of the local school PTA and principals of each of the local schools were in attendance. A special guest was Harvey Smith, of the Alpine Al-pine School District Board of Education. Mrs. George G. Smith, Council Coun-cil President presided at the meting. President Smith welcomed wel-comed all to the meeting and thanked them for helping make a successof recent workshops, Clinics and membership enrollments. enroll-ments. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Principal James E. Baird of the Lindon School. Prayer and blessing on the food was given by Asst. Principal Prin-cipal Don Crump of the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove High School. The financial report was given giv-en by Mrs. H. L. Roudabush, Council secretary-treasurer. A report was given by Mrs. Ruth Shoell, Council magazine and publications chairman. There was a report given by Principal John Gourley, Council Coun-cil parlimentarian and by-laws chairman. President Smith discussed plans for each school to send information to parents prior to Halloween, in regard to cautioning cau-tioning their children to be chaperoned and to avoid strangers particulary at this time of year.- Harvey Smith, representing the district school board, talked talk-ed to the council. Mr. Smith discussed the policies and pro-ceedures pro-ceedures and responsibilities of the school board in the school program and its relation to the community. He also stressed vocational training in the school. He urged that a good look be given the total school program with an eye toward the end result of a student having the ability to find his place and make a contribution to society. He invited anyone interested to feel free to visit school board meetings. He also stressed that parents could help students by setting time to help them with their school work at home, by sending them to school well groomed and in a happy attitude, atti-tude, and also that parents dress appropriately when visiting vis-iting school. |
