Show burglar trapped in store calls police for help an 18 year old burglar had little trouble breaking into a ballard store near seattle this week but he had to call on police to release him from the premises it was revealed the ordinary routine of business at the ballard precinct station was disturbed early the other morning by a strange telephone call hello said an excited youth let me out of herel here out of where asked the operator out of the penney fennoy store at 2232 market street im a burglar I 1 broke in but cant get out sergeant W S white and patrolmen E W wymore and S C stearns steams obligingly aroused the stores manager and accompanied him to the store the manager fred stroh unlocked the door the policemen took the youth to the city jail in his confession to detective capt C V dailey and R E murphy mur P by the youth jack C lorin said 1 I figured the store would be a good place to prowl and got some wire wire from a building then I 1 climbed up to the roof of the building from the root roof of a show 1 I took some glass out of the skylight and fastened the wire on a plank and slid down the wire to the store I 1 burned my hands on the wire but got down all right first thing ot ON I 1 tried on some shoes but they fit me I 1 went to the cashiers cage and took about 1 10 0 1 I decided to beat it but the wire wire was too slippery I 1 tried and tried but climb up to it 1 I went for the back door but it was barricaded barricades barrica ded and locked the only way out was to smash a front door window if I 1 did that though the cops would hear it and probably shoot me as I 1 came out so I 1 returned the money to the cashiers cage and telephoned police to come and get me out |
