Show council discusses citywide project A special meeting of the marown parowan Pa rown f city council was held last saturday night for the purpose of getting a city wide W P A project under way word was received from the district office that funds would be available for this work about november and a request was made by that office that the council get all necessary preliminary work done so the project could be started at that date the city has had two projects in mind and asked that the largest of the two be carried out this project calls for removal of the small trees from the city nursery to the streets desi designated for them by the city beautification committee for removing about 50 old trees and replacing them with new ones for the completion of the rock wall around the cemetery for improving sidewalks irrigation ditches and laying of flag I 1 stone curb and gutters in front of citizens homes provided they pay for the materials used before work can begin on these projects a map must be made showing the location of each project and giving information and cross section drawings of each at the regular meeting held on in I 1 thursday night a general discussion of the project was held by the council and councilman ray H adams was instructed to call at the office and find out definitely what will be needed before the pro jcck can get started in completing the wall around the cemetery it will be necessary for the people who own lots to pay the assessments levied against them when the project was first started city treasurer R M benson was instructed 0 write letters to au all jaho paid and ask that they do so in order that the fence may be finished miss skidmore of the nursery school me with the council ana asked the city to appropriate 10 each month to match a like amount from the school board and iron county to be used in purchasing food for children in the nursery school after due consideration this amount was appropriated councilman L J adams who had been instructed to write the state road commission regarding the installation of two se semaphore signals to be placed on main street reported to the council that he had received a reply to his letter and that he expected the signals here in in a short time the road commission agreed to furnish the signals ir 17 hie city would install them and see that they were maintained bills were presented and given the official OK and payment authorized after which the meeting ad journeyed jour need |
