Show History Of Stoker Continues Progress A very interesting program Highlights in the History of Stoker was held Feb 12 at Stoker School as a special Founders Founder's Day event A chorus of third grade students set the stage for the program with their patriotic songs and ending with an old favorite School Days STOKER SCHOOL was erected erected erected ted in 1904 and graduated its first class from eighth grade the following year Two of these first graduates who were classmates 65 years ago Mrs Ella Smith and Reuben Hepworth Hepworth Hepworth Hep- Hep worth attended the meeting Mr Tonge principal narrated narrated narrated nar nar- rated a short film of Stoker School Days taken about 22 years ago Some of the parents parents parents par par- in the audience saw themselves as students E. E Lamar Parkin principal in 1951 following the retirement retirement retirement retire retire- ment of J. J R. R Tolman who had been principal for 41 years gave interesting historical cal facts as he spoke to the group STOKER alumnae have no doubt found their way into every corner of the world and into every walk of life said PTA president Mrs Edgar M M. Denny as she introduced Stokers Stoker's foremost foremost foremost fore fore- most alumnus Calvin L. L Rampton Ramp- Ramp ton Governor of the State of Utah Governor Rampton Hampton reminisced ed telling of some of his School Days at Stoker to many former students former principals principals principals pals and teachers former PTA presidents as well as parents and students of today who were present Following the program an open house was enjoyed by all as the changes in the building were noted and commented upon STOKER HAS seen many changes but of greatest importance importance importance im im- im- im is the continued high high- standard of education maintained maintained maintained main main- over the years The staff of dedicated efficient teachers work unceasingly for forthe forthe forthe the students well being The interest and support of the parents to the activities of the is a great help Throughout the year the PTA has been compiling a history of the school Mrs Lee Joyce Benard chairman of the project asks for additional information either of statistical cal calor or human interest value to be submitted THIS HISTORY will be printed printed print print- ed and available to those in interested interested interested in- in in the near future Due to the expense of printing printing printing print print- ing and reproducing pictures there will be a nominal charge for each copy If you did not leave your name on the list at the program call the PTA or the school for your copy as soon as possible |
