| Show Public Broadcasting b The Corporation for Public Broadcasting recently reported report report- ed on its first full year o of operation and as expect expected e r requested q est d from Congress more morg r r mon money y to perform its un as set out in its congressional charter THE PURPOSE of the corporation corporation corporation cor cor- is to upgrade the quality of public broadcasting through studies grants and other means It is too early to know yet what the accomplishments accomplishments accomplishments ac ac- ac- ac of the corporation corporation corporation corpor corpor- can and will be in the future but the goal of quality broadcasting is certainly one most Americans support The danger in this program is that the corporation will become primarily an agency handing out federal money to unimaginative or bureaucratic public radio and television stations rather than an active functioning unit to improve the quality of American public broadcasting But thus far this danger seems to have been avoided voided THE PUBLIC network network network net net- work has expanded today to some stations and several of the corporations corporation's better programs childrens children's programs programs programs pro pro- grams teen-age teen programs etc have through the aid of private grants been treen made available to virtually all these stations But the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is still an infant It received from Congress for the year and will probably get more |
