| Show J Mayors Mayor's s Report STREETS AND SANITATION General street maintenance is almost a full time job this time of year The Street Department crews are busy filling chuck holes sweeping streets cleaning drainage drainage drainage drain drain- age structures cleaning creeks and repairing damaged signs Light snow storms that make the streets slippery have not been too bad this season but whenever the streets are sanded it means the broom has to go out later and sweep the grit off the streets So with all the maintenance work to be done the personnel gets spread a little thin at times and therefore some streets in the city may not get the attention right at the time it is needed ENGINEERING studies have been completed for a special improvement district for sidewalk curb and gut gut- ter An information seminar was held on Feb 2 with the property owners along South 1100 East and South Streets for the purpose of discussing the pedestrian problem in in that area Although no definite commitments or conclusions were made as a result of this meeting plans are now underway to proceed with a district which will include sidewalk in Plat A where sidewalk does not presently exist sidewalk along South South 1100 East South all above curb East gutter and sidewalk along 1300 East from South to North If plans move along as anticipated construction construction construction tion will begin on this project in early summer BUILDING PLANNING AND ZONING The building and inspection department is in the process of reviewing the various building codes and permit fees to bring our policies more in in line with those of other cities in in our area THREE subdivisions were accepted for recording during January Orchard Heights Plat H containing 19 lots being being being be be- ing developed by Anderson Lumber Company Orchard Orchard Orchard Or Or- chard Heights Plat E HE containing 13 lots being developed developed developed de de- de- de by E.
