Classic cars and music to team at Triad Aug. 1 8 What do vintage cars and classical music have in common? On Aug. 18 visitors will have a chance to see some of the finest automobiles ever built and at the same time can select a seat for a season of performances by the Utah Symphony at Symphony Hall in Salt Lake City. And visitors who purchase a season ticket to the symphony will be admitted without charge to the car show. The Concours d'EIegance automobile show will bring nearly 100 classic cars to the grounds of Salt Lake's Triad Center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Other vintage cars will be displayed on the plaza at Symphony Hall. At a Select-a-Seat open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Symphony Hall the Utah ; Symphony Guild will show visitors the seats they may reserve for the season. The open house will include tours of Symphony Hall, refreshments and drawings for season tickets. The symphony's season will include a seven-, 12- or 19-concert subscription series featuring music from the romantic era, a chamber orchestra series, a visiting orchestra series, a youth series and a matinee preview series. Admission to the Concours d'EIegance is $5 (without season ' ticket purchase). Proceeds will be used to establish an endowment fund to advance the talents of promising young musicians.
