Cornice gets new life The Cornice, the long dormant construction project pro-ject adjacent to the base facilities at the Park City Ski Area, has gained new life after over a year of inactivity. in-activity. John Crandell and Alan Collier have bought the project and plan to restart construction within three weeks, aiming for completion comple-tion by Thanksgiving. Monty Gibson, the original owner of The Cornice, ran into trouble with financing and the project was sold to Barney Bettylion. Crandell and Collier formed a partnership part-nership and bought the project approximately three weeks ago. Two crews are scheduled to start construction on the project within three weeks. Work will go on 12 hours a dav. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in an attempt to reach the Thanksgiving goal. Park City architect John Carbine, who designed the original project, will be retained by the new owners. Carbine said the building will be built basically along the lines of the original plans which received approval from the Planning Commission. Commis-sion. The Cornice will house 20 ne-bedroom condominium units, with 5,000 square feet of commercial space on the main floor, and three stories of underground parking beneath. be-neath. The underground parking will hold 64 cars. Amenities included in the project are a hot tub room, a laundry, and an exercise room. Carbine stressed a selling point of both the residential and the commercial space. "It is one of the properties you can get a fee title to," he said. According to Carbine, some other properties up at the resort are on a 99 year lease. The difference, he said, would not be immediate, im-mediate, but could show up later on when thinking of resale. Carbine said that the existing concrete, in place from the previous construction, construc-tion, has been tested and shown to be "first class." "The owners are committed to building a quality building," build-ing," he added. Turnmar Construction will be the general contractor.
