Show Presenting the coaching staff ofthe'84P.C.S.T. Here is a look at the coaches behind the skiers on this year's Park City Ski Team: Bob Marsh Marsh has been in active coaching for 12 years, the last 10 of those with the Park City Ski Team. Last year he chose to take a less active role, and assumed the position of administrative director. The continuing growth of the team makes his role more important each year. Marsh is a Level 2 certified coach with the United States Ski Coaches Association (USSCA). In addition to his Park City kids, he has coached Intermountain Junior Olympic teams from 1979 through last year. Marsh has coached at both junior and senior levels. Before his coaching days, Marsh was a nationally recognized ski racer. Jim Clifford Clifford again will coach both the A (age 18 and up) and the JI (16-18) brackets this season. He is also a Level 2 coach with the USSCA. Clifford coached four years at Western State University at Gunnison, Colorado and two years at the Junior Olympics before coming to Park City. This will be Clifford's fourth year with the team. Like Marsh, Clifford was also a well-known ski racer before he got into coaching. Patti Formichelli Formichelli will share the JII (age 14-15) group with Ray Dicios this year. Formichelli coached the Jills (12-13) last season. This year's coaching will be interrupted in January when Formichelli Formi-chelli is expected to give birth to her first child. She is Level 2 certified and has been coaching on the P.C. Ski Team since 1973. As a ski racer, Formichelli was a member of the first women's professional race circuit in 1971 and a 'fixture on the women's pro freestyle circuit. Ray Dicios Dicios will share coaching of the JTIs with Formichelli. Dicios is a Level 2 coach and has been involved in many areas of the ski industry. He has coached at Solitude the past two seasons. Kim Vletas McConaughy Mc-Conaughy Mc-Conaughy was virtually brought up in the Park City Ski Team program. After many years of racing in the Intermountain Division, she attended attend-ed Dartmouth College and raced on that school's team. Following school McConaughy coached at Aspen-she Aspen-she is Level 1 certified. Last winter she was a ski instructor at Deer Valley. This year she will be coaching the P.C.S.T. Jills. Dick Stoner Stoner will be in his third year as coach of the JTVs (age 10-ll)andJVs(9andunder). Heisa Level 1 coach with the USSCA and a certified Professional Ski Instructor of America. Stoner has been coaching since 1975. Before coming to the P.C. Ski Team, Stoner was head coach at ParkWest in 1980 and 81. Vicki Beck Jacobson Jacobson will handle the farm team, the majority of which is kids 12 and under. It is designed to teach the kids about racing and to give them a taste to see if they like it. Jacobson has been coaching with the Park City Ski Team for six years. She is Level 1 certified with the USSCA. Previously Jacobson was a junior racer with the P.C. Ski Team. Kathy Kreiner Kreiner is a new addition to this year's coaching staff. She will lend her impressive knowledge and skills to the JII and JUI squads. (See separate story.) Scott Siemon- Siemon will work on the weight-training program for the team through the Prospector Athletic Club. Siemon has been coaching for two years and formerly was a member of the Sun Valley Ski Team and a national junior racer. |
