Show Park City man dies in hot tub accident Park City resident Ugo "Buddy" Macchia was found dead in a friend's hot tub Sunday morning. He was 25. Police responded to a call at 9 :54 a.m. Sunday after Macchia was found in a hot tub at 2353 Comstock Drive, Park City. Drowning was the apparent cause of death, according to Park City polite officer Pat Pirraglio. Pirraglio said Macchia was pronounced pro-nounced dead at the scene and was taken to the office of the State Medical Examiner. He said there was no evidence of foul play. A report from the state is expected by the end of the week. Buddy Macchia was born in Arlington, Massachusetts on Aug. 1, 1959 to Mr. and Mrs. Ugo Macchia. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1976 and moved to Park City in 1980. In Park City Macchia worked in construction and was also active on local softball and rugby teams. He played for three years as a forward on the Park City Rugby Football Club (please turn to page A2 for a tribute by rugby teammate Dave Mueller). Said one friend: "He was one of the most liked people I've ever met in my life." About 200 people attended a memorial service at St. Mary's Catholic Church Tuesday afternoon. His family accompanied the body home to Massachusetts, where he will be buried. |
