Show McLeod Creek flood control The City Council is set to consider a proposal to clear debris from McLeod Creek in one 20-foot stretch along the stream bed. Dredging the stream had been considered as part of the flood control con-trol improvements okayed last spring, according to Public Works Director Jerry Gibbs. However, he said the city's consultant, the J.J. Johnson engineering firm, suggested that only one area along the creek needed to be cleared of debris. A permit from the Army Corps of Engineers was not necessary to do flood control work on the creek, because of its small size, Gibbs said. The proposal to clear that area will be put before the City Council on Dec. 1. Other improvements along the creek include replacing old culverts, cul-verts, Gibbs said. C R Sales and Construction Con-struction was awarded the contract, con-tract, in the amount of $3,750 for the McLeod Creek improvements. |
