Show Officers Wearing New Gear Park City police officers are sporting new uniforms this week as a result of efforts to modernize the department's appearance and to replace old, worn-out apparel, the city says. Most notably, the department depart-ment has replaced the traditional black shirts with snappy French-blue affairs, complete with new city logo sleeve patches. Eventually new badges will complete the re-outfitting. PCPD Chief Frank Bell said three shirts, three pants and a new winter coat were purchased for each of the department's' 13 officers. Bell added the city will maintain the new uniforms as officers check them in and out as cleaning and repairs become necessary. The chief .said the program replaces the old practice of giving officers a $120 quarterly clothing allowance, out of which officers purchased and maintained their own uniforms. uni-forms. Bell said the new uniforms and badges cost some $6,000, the amount budgeted for the new gear. |
